Exercise advice

Hi everyone I am 7 weeks pregnant and I attempted to go to the gym today. I wasn't trying to do anything intense but I couldn't believe how tired I was. Has anyone managed to keep going to the gym during the first trimester?

I know how you feel. I was going to the gym like 4-5 times a week before I got pregnant. There was no way I could work out during the first trimester- I was so tired to the point I was sleeping 17 hrs a day!! The last few weeks have been a ton better and I'm almost 15 weeks. You will get your energy back- I didn't believe people but I really do feel a lot better. I am starting to work out again too.

Exercise advice

During the first trimester, I was always tired. Since I did IVF, I did not return to the gym until 6-7 weeks. At that point, I was running SO slowly (>10 minute miles) and thought there was no chance I would be able to get a decent workout in during my pregnancy. At about 10-11 weeks, my energy returned to normal and now I am running 8:45-9:00 pace - not quite as fast as my usual times, but a definite improvement! I am now 15 weeks.

Good Luck!

I was able to work out until 7 weeks, and then I literally could not work out again until around 17 weeks. I had zero energy. It eventually came back. Hang in there.

Re: Exercise advice

I had to take a break during first trimester because of pretty severe nausea/vomiting, but once that passed, I was able to start up again. Still going at 32w!

Re: Exercise advice

With DD and now with this pregnancy I pretty much only made it to the gym 1 time per week from weeks 7 through 15 but then I worked out 3-4 times a week until like week 38 and then walked like 3 miles every day while i was home waiting for DD to come. Hoping for it to be similar this time.

I went to the gym up until I was 36w pregnant. I'd go in the mornings b/c I was too tired at night during the 1st tri.

If you're too tired, just take it easy and skip the gym. You'll get your energy back soon enough.

Re: Exercise advice

I worked out 5x a week until DD was born. I was also extremely sick for 5 months, puking several times a day - so my exercise was from hardcore, but it was important for me to keep active. I actually relieved my nausea while I was working out. When I felt better, I did a little bit more, towards the end, I did a lot less!
It really does help throughout our pregnancy. Make it a goal if it's important to you, but at the same time don't beat yourself up if you're feeling rundown and need to skip a day. Do what you can, when you can. It is possible, and will probably give you more energy, but just be smart about it and listen to your body.

Thank you!! I appreciate the feedback, I think I'll relax and just take the dog for a walk. (So at least I'm moving)

And To be honest no one has to twist my arm to stay home from the gym. Lol
