exclusively BF'd for 13 months advice on weaning

So DS has been exclusively breastfeed for 13 months and I'm trying to wean him. If it was up to him he wouldn't eat any solid foods. So last week I stopped nurse him at lunch. Which should I do next breakfast or lunch?

Any other suggestions of how to wean???

TIA

Re: exclusively BF'd for 13 months advice on weaning

I EBF'd for 14 months. I dropped the before dinner feeding first since that one wasn't always a "must". Waited a week. Then dropped before naps. In lieu of nursing I read a book to him. Waited a week Finally to go was when he woke up in the morning. And I substituted that with chocolate milk. Yes, that's right, I said choc. milk. My EBF kid refused milk. And still does to this day. So it's choc. milk in this house Chat Icon

Good luck.

Re: exclusively BF'd for 13 months advice on weaning

When I started to wean I dropped all the "in-between" feedings and kept the before sleep feedings.

Then I dropped the before nap feedings...then eventually I dropped the night and morning.

I would just start with dropping one at a time, give that a week, then drop another.

We did too!! I would mix a little bit of Horizon chocolate with regular milk. She eventually drank it (it took a LONG time before she did).

Re: exclusively BF'd for 13 months advice on weaning

I exclusively BF'd for 13 months. Chloe refused to take a bottle, but she was starting to lose interest in BFing, so I stopped one feeding at a time. I started with the midday feeding and then stopped the morning and then bedtime. She would only take sips from her sippy cup for a few weeks, but she was not dehydrated and did not want me either. All of a sudden she started loving milk and downing her sippy cups (she will drink 3-4 8oz cups a day) before 1/2 sippy cup would be a struggle.

My best advice would be to take it slow, one feeding at a time. good luck!
