Excessive eye blinking?

Ds is 4 and just started doing this pretty frequently. He's squeezing his eyes hard during a blink. Anyone's child have this happen out of nowhere? Did it go away?

Re: Excessive eye blinking?

Last summer, my DD started "stretching" her eyes wide and squeezing them shut a lot. We took her to the eye doctor because we thought she developed a tick or maybe needed glasses. Turns out she had dry eyes and just needed some OTC eye drops, we used "Renew". At first she needed the drops twice a day, then went down to once a day, then every other day, and now she just uses them as needed. The eye stretching and squeezing completely resolved itself once she started the eye drops.

I would make an appt with the eye doctor to have it checked it, could be nothing or could be something. It's worth the visit to know either way.

Excessive eye blinking?

My DS did this!!! For like almost a year and then completely went away. We took him to the dr and eye dr, and he was fine. They said maybe he has dry eyes/ allergies, but most likely is that its really common at that age. The dr said they are starting to form their first habits and may have done it a little bit and just continued doing it, and that he would outgrow it, and he did!

Re: Excessive eye blinking?

We have an eye appt next week. I tried putting eye drops in his eyes today in case they were dry & he threw the mother of all fits so it should be a fun visit. Chat Icon
