Events at the end of pregnancy??
How do you RSVP to an event that you'll be 39 weeks pregnant to??? It's an engagement party at a town hall. Will I be too uncomfortable? I'm at risk for pre-term labor so theres a good chance the baby will be born before then...

You can be equally uncomfortable at a party as at home IMO (as long as its nearby, of course). Any events in that time period I reply that we will be there unless the baby comes first. Everyone is understanding that it's not something you have control over and may have to cancel last minute if you're birthing a person

Re: Events at the end of pregnancy??
How far away is it? My OB told me not to be in the car for more than 30 minutes at a time in the last 2 weeks -- he didn't want me more than 30 minutes from our hospital. I've heard some OBs say 2 hours is fine. But long drives can cause you to actually go into labor at the very end (or so they told me last pregnancy).
I would just call the hosts and tell them you'll be 39 weeks and would love to come but just are not going to be able to tell them in advance whether you'll be able to. If they really need a response before then, it'll have to be a no. I'm sure they'll understand. If you end up showing up last-minute, it will be a pleasant surprise! You could always call the week before and see if they've had a last minute cancellation if you do feel up to going! If it's not assigned seating / plates, though, you should be ok just letting them know that week or just showing up. It's not like a wedding.
