Evening contractions - is this normal?? **(w/ mini update)

I just had my 6th contraction in 2 hours... last night this went on almost 10 hours very sporadically (same on Saturday). They're not regular enough for me to call the doctor. I think yesterday's were because I over-did it at the gym, but tonight's are radiating through my back really painfully. I was on my feet out shopping a lot of today, so maybe that's what it is?

I just drank about 4 glasses of water, so I think I'm hydrated enough.

I just don't know if this is normal or not. I'm 35 weeks tomorrow (but as I've said my EDD is based purely on the baby's measurement b/c my cycles were extremely irregular -- my LMP was 3/4, but I measure like I conceived around 4/16).

I haven't had any other "major" symptoms... no show, no diarrhea or anything.

My gut is telling me to just keep hanging out and getting from one contraction until the next for now because even if it is "the real thing" I wouldn't need to go anywhere for several hours.

I just was wondering if anyone else has "night contractions"? I've read that it's normal for your body to gear up for a few weeks beforehand and that BH can get painful as you get closer, so maybe that's all this is?

I guess I should maybe call the doctor's office in the morning just to ask since it's 2 days in a row now. I don't know. I feel like I'd know if this was "real" and it doesn't feel real yet so I should just deal with it like annoying "end of pregnancy" aches and pains.

Small Update (9:45 pm):

So I just had another contraction since I moved from the couch to the yoga ball to change my position a bit and it was 35+ minutes since the last one so I'm just hoping it's my body "practicing" so when I do go into labor, it's quick and easy. Chat Icon

Re: Evening contractions - is this normal?? **(w/ mini update)

They stopped around 1 am and eased up, thankfully. I wake up feeling so much better than I do in the evenings these days. It's pretty crazy.

DH and I agreed that today is a "stay at home" day for me. I'm going to finish wrapping christmas presents, finish my shower TYs, do the dishes, and try out our bath tub for the first time (since we moved in August, I've never taken a bath!). Not in that order lol.

I just had some oatmeal and feel pretty good. I keep trying to sleep in, but when I wake up around 7:30, I can't ever seem to fall back to sleep in the mornings.

I'm gonna go find my phone and give the nurse a call just to see what they say, especially since it's Friday now. I hate bothering the doctor after hours, especially when I think it's nothing "big" but what do I know?

Thanks everyone for your help and good wishes! Let's hope all this practicing makes for an easy delivery when she's ready to join us!

ETA: The nurse just called me back and said it's pretty normal to feel them in the evenings especially if you've been running around all day. She said to just keep aware of it and look for some other signs and drink a LOT of water. But she said she'll let the doctors know and not to hesitate to call if I have more than 6 in an hour and if they get stronger or I can't talk through them. Sometimes they'll stop me in my tracks, but I know this isn't "it" so I'll just keep on for now. Chat Icon It was nice of her to call back so fast and take me seriously about this. I feel better that I've reached out at least.
