Essure
So I am getting this done in 2 weeks. My OB recommended it since we were talking birth control and I'm 100 percent sure I'm done. He does it in the office and I'm under general anesthesia. He said it's about a half hour and done. He said mah be done bleeding but most patients were back to themselves the next day. Now I'm reading some horror stories that's scaring me. I understand how it works and it's effective after 3 months but some women have done crazy stories and had it removed. I read some positive stories too. I'm just getting worried now. Anyone have any personal experience? Thanks!

no personal exp, but make sure your using BC 100% of the time. Like tubal, it has a small failure rate. It does take time for the scarring to form, you can get preg while that happens.

I looked into it, I'm 100% sure I'm done. I have found many horror stories as well. Really just starting to explore our options. I really think that DH going in for a snip will be the best option for us

Re: Essure
I know someone who went through h ell with this. I believe there are many Facebook pages on this. Including some regarding lawsuits. Please look them up before moving forward.
Would you consider having your tubes tied instead?

Re: Essure
I had mine done about 4 or 5 years ago. Best decision I've ever made for myself. No side effects at all.
I've seen the horror stories online and spoke to my doctor about them. As with the Internet, people are insane. I'm sure there are some rare cases of issues but people like to blame things on something.
Talk to your doctor. Make sure he/she is well trained on the procedure. That is the most important thing.
My gyn actually trained other doctors on the procedure.
PM me if you want

I decided just to get my tubes tied. I don't like the idea of essure without any horror stories so I decided to just tie my tubes

Thank you. I actually postponed it for now bc I feel like a week doesn't give me enough time to think about it.

Re: Essure
My coworkers wife had it done and had complications, she ended up having her tubes removed because of the issues. I think there is failure rates with everything but I've had friends that had their tubes tied and were fine in a couple of days.

I spoke to Dh about this..we are not sure if we want one more, so we will wait a couple of years and then decide. He agreed to get snipped since i had to deal with the 20+ weeks of severe morning sickness and labor lol. It's the least he could do!!!

Re: Essure
I know someone who had a HORRIBLE experience with Essure. I am sure everyone will react differently but for me, now that we're done having kids we're opting for my DH getting snipped. I'm done with putting any kind of artificial hormones in my body. After years of birth control pills and then IF treatments I just don't want to do it anymore. DH's turn to step up, he's 100% fine with it. Good luck!!

Re: Essure
My OB mentioned it to me, but i don't like the thought of foreign objects being placed and left in my body. I feel like that is just asking for issues. And then I read the horror stories and I think there might be something to it.
I would probably just have my tubes tied because even though it's a surgery, yes, it's done laproscopically and I had an organ removed laproscopically and was really fine within a few days. The recovery was so easy and I never even took the narcotic pain meds, just motrin. And at least you won't have a foreign object in your tubes for the rest of your life and God knows what complications from that down the road.
