Ok here it goes:
At Abbie & Luca's wedding a very drunk Ray was in the middle of the street trying to hear his phone message from Nela. He dropped his phone & when he picked up a truck hit him. We didn't know what happened to him. They didn't show him last week. fast forward to last night Nela was asking Morris if anyone heard from him. He said no but, the band is back in town so maybe he's back with them. Then Nela get a phone call & it's says Ray. Next scene she is in a hospital & you can see him w. his face all bruised & cut up (yet still cute!  ) Then someone helps push his wheelchair to reveal he lost both legs from the knees down.  Nela & him talk & he pretty much gave her a bit of the riot act saying that he was a fool to wait for her & fall in love with her just so she can get back with Gates. She said the night this happened I called you to tell you I broke it off with Tony. he said he knows he heard the message before the accident. Then his mother & that other skinny b!tch of a doctor that Ray dated before came in to take Ray. He is going to live with his Mom in New Orleans. Nela told him "He'll get thru this" Gave him a kiss goodbye.
Then Nela tells the skinny b!tch that she did a great job & in mid sentence the s.b. told Nela that it was all her fault.
Fast Forward to Nela seeing an anti war rally in which she goes to. Someone apparently shoots a gun or bomb goes off not really sure. The crowd starts running and Nela falls flat on her stomach & it looks like she is getting trampled. (Whether she will have a spine injury we will find out in Sept.) Oh, also Tony is at the rally & is trying to get to her.
Kovach is in Croatia w. his Dad. Abby & the baby had to stay home.
The new guy Dr Moretti (Stanley Tucci) seems to be a good Doctor but will cause some waves. And he took a total pot shot & Abbie telling her that she will have to get used to working with a chief of residence that she's not sleeping with.
I think that might be it. And boy are my hands tired.

I totally agree. It is for more than he has let on.
I was shocked about Ray - I thought he was going to have amnesia or something. I can't even guess what's going to happen with Nela. They wouldn't disfigure two major characters like that - would they?
ER just keeps getting better with age. I'm so glad I stuck with it through the bad stage

I read an article that Luca is leaving the show. He will do about 5 or 6 episodes next season but then he is done. I also heard that Abby may also leave after next season as well. If the do leave I hope they do it with a happy ending.
I was in such shock when I saw Ray. Crazy how he called that chick Kayla first before he called Neela. Then she jumped down Neelas throat afterward.
I wonder what will happen with Neela?
I loved that song they were playing at the end. Made me cry because of all the terrible endings I saw yesterday, Ugly betty, CSI and then ER.
