Engagement Gift? (Canvas gift cert?)

Hey everyone! So my very best guy friend just got engaged on Christmas! I'm not sure what to get them. At first I was going to get them something personalized to hang in the house (like a Channa plaque or something similar) but I don't know if they'll get a lot of that stuff and I'd want it to say their wedding date which is not set. They are having an engagement party on 1/28- very informal- buffet at a local bar. Then I was thinking of getting them a gift certificate for a canvas. Those are always so nice and when they have e-pics or wedding pics, they can use it. So what do you think? Canvas gift certificate? Something else? What would you have REALLY wanted as a gift when you got engaged? NOT money. I point blank refuse to give money as an engagement gift.

ETA: And if you think I should go for a canvas gift certificate, recommend a place! Not Invision It On Canvas! I haven't forgotten about how they treated another poster on here, plus their spelling stinks.

Thats what i gave my cousin as part of her Bridal Shower gift.

Ive used Cafepress.com and Canvasondemand.com for my canvases.

I love the idea of a canvas! I've been using CanvasOnDemand and I've been VERY happy with their work. ChicCanvas too!
