Effacement/Dilation

For any BTDT moms or ladies nearing their due dates, could any of you feel effacement or dilation taking place? Lately I've been having some intense cervical pain - seems to be worse when I'm walking around. I know my baby is head down and low so perhaps it's just his head rubbing on my cervix? Or is there a chance my cervix is thinning and I can feel it?

I am 35+4. TIA!

Im not sure.... Personally, I get some sharp cervical pain but every time I go to Dr and get internals, I have zero progress... So for me it means nothing I guess.. I'm 39 weeks today and go back Thurs

I didn't feel it, I was 3/4 cm dilated for 2 weeks and never felt a single contraction/pain. I think it is totally possible that those pains are your body progressing though! Congratulations, hope you have a very easy delivery!

i don't think it's something you can feel happening. i think what you feel is normal, and just means that your body is preparing itself for labor.

i'm 39+2days pregnant and have been having severe contractions and pain and pressure down there for a few weeks now and i'm only 1cm dialated.

I had read that sometimes the cervix dilating can cause some women to feel menstrual-type cramps so I was wondering if the sharp pains I was feeling could also be a symptom but it may just be baby head-butting me. I know he is head down and pretty low. And yes the pain is severe, right?! Sometimes crippling even!
