Any BTDT moms actually feel dilation and or effacement? I have been getting sharp pains around my cervix. Nothing crippling or anything but just quick sharp pains. I have been feeling lots of pressure down there for the past 2 weeks or so and just started feeling some cramping in the past few days. Last appt on Monday I was all closed up. I am 37w5d and desperate lol.

I never felt myself dilating even when I was in active labor......the only thing I felt was the horrible contractions!

Re: Maybe a silly question but can you FEEL dilation/effacement?
I was 2 cm and 75% at 37 w and 3 cm 75% at 38 and 39 w and couldn't feel it at all.
The night I went into labor, I felt contractions, but was shocked that I was 5 cm 100% when I got to the hospital 3 hrs after the contractions started. An hour later, I was 9 cm!!! I could not feel the dilation itself happening, but the contractions I could feel. I went meds free... feel free to read DD;s birth story but you may not want to if you're going meds free because I mention the pain... a lot. lol
