Eating before 1 hr glucose test?
Are you allowed to eat before your 1hr glucose or do you have to fast????

They say it depends on what your doctor says...but I didn't eat before mine and I passed.

You have to fast- not sure for how long. I scheduled the test in the AM so that I could just delay breakfast.

My doctor said i COULD eat beforehand...I just had two pieces of toast with butter beforehand, and i passed!

My instruction sheet says specifically, "DO NOT FAST!!!!! Just don't eat excessive sugar" Damn, no pop tarts that morning I guess..

My doctor said a piece of toast and some milk is ok. Don't drink anything sweet, like OJ.

Each doctor is different. My instructions are eat as normal.

My doctor said I didn't have to fast for the 1 hour. So I had waffles for breakfast, than went for the test 3 hours later.
I just did it yesterday, so I'll have to wait and see if I passed!

My doctor said go ahead and eat but just watch the sugar intake. So many people fail the 1 hour though who pass the 3 hour and I didn't want to be bothered, so I chose to fast. Also, watch the carbs when planning your dinner the night beforehand b/c those bad boys will turn to sugar while you sleep and mess with your test results.

the girl at the lab i go to said you are more likely to pass if you don't eat that day, and if you avoid sugary foods the day before. not sure if it's true, but IMO, it can't hurt.

Same here. But since I went first thing in the morning I only had a few glasses of water before, no food.

My doctor told me I don't have to fast. She just advised me to stay away from carbs all day being I will be taking the test at night, not sure how I can do this being carbs is what fills me up

My Dr.'s office said it was fine to eat (my appointment was t 3:00) so I ate lunch...however I failed the 1 hr and I am convinced that it is becasue I ate a regular lunch! I fasted for the 3 hour and passed!!

I ate three or four hours before and failed. Then I had to take the three hour which I passed. My suggestion is to make an early morning appointment and not eat past 8 pm - just to ensure that you'll pass.
