Eat play sleep mommies

DS #2 is only 2 weeks old so I know he is too little. But I was just wondering when you were able to get on an eat, play, sleep schedule. Also how were you able to keep your DC up after feedings if they just wanted to sleep. TIA!

I started to see it between 6 and 7 weeks. I don't keep him up. I see that on his own he is content after a feeding and will "play" on his playmat most of the time.

I kind of recall saying to my mom at 6 weeks that DD2 was on a fairly predictable eat, play, sleep routine. I mean from day one it was like that...she'd eat, be alert for a little while then sleep. Repeat. But it was very sporatic for a while.

If they want to sleep...let them sleep. They are so tiny and need so much sleep.

DD was around 6 or 7 weeks when I started it. She was very sleepy as a newborn but by then she was starting to stay up more, usually 2 hours tops though. I always fed her as soon as she woke in the morning so she would hang out and play after that. I put her on the playmat which she loved or showed her toys and sang with her. Just being in the habit of feeding her as soon as she woke in the am or from a nap it was easy to keep her in the routine. It also helped avoid letting her nurse to sleep. She was super tired after playing for a bit so it was really easy to get her to put herself to sleep for naps.

We started an eat/sleep schedule when within the first week of LO's life.

We added play time within the first month.

Think of it more as a routine than a schedule.

I tried to start it around a month old, probably. DS wasn't a great napper so it was more eat-play-sleep-play. Just having the pattern helped me so I felt like I knew what I was doing...even when I had no clue!
