Early teethers
Could my 2-month-old be teething already?? He has been extra fussy, spitting up a lot more than usual and randomly screaming where before he really didn't do any of those things. He hasn't smiled at all today and just seems to be in pain whenever he's awake. Lots of extra saliva, too. Seems different than gas pains to me. Did anyone have an early teether, or a DC who cut teeth really early? DS #1 got his first tooth at 5 months but I don't remember when the teething really started.
I just hate to see my little guy in pain! I feel bad for him.

Re: Early teethers
My son was 2 months when he started to teethe. Confirmed by his dr.. At first I thought it was his reflux that was getting worse but the dr could see the teeth through his gum... Unfortunately it took another 4 months to cut the first tooth. I used Tylenol at night. Dr said it was ok because it was only at night... I used frozen wash cloths.. It was horrible.. My son was a hard teether.. Took months for his teeth to come through the gum...

Re: Early teethers
same thing happened with my DS (although it started closer to 1 month)...I thought it was teething too bc of the extra saliva and sucking his hands. He is 3 months old now, still no sign of teeth...but we did recently discover that he has a milk protein allergy that caused the screaming, fussiness etc. When I thought it was teething i would hold a cold teething toy in his mouth but that didnt do the trick for him...may work for you though. could be anything i sure with these little guys could talk to tell us whats wrong
i hope he feels better soon

DD started teething around 8 weeks.. she's now 14 weeks and no tooth yet!! pediatrician said anything is normal when it comes to teething- some babies are born with teeth!

Re: Early teethers
Just took my 12 week old DS to his 3 month appointment and doctor confirmed teething. He's been drooling a lot (and he is already a big spitter), sucking on his hands, and chewing on the bottle nipple while eating. He's waking up earlier at night than usual also. He was sleeping from about 10pm to 5-6am, but woke up at 330 last nights.

Early teethers
Just a FYI, the 8 week mark for many children is a notoriously fussy period anyway. Digestive changes, growth spurts...could be a few other things besides teething

This--I think every new mom (including myself) attribute this fussiness to teething.

I did for sure - and he didn't get his first tooth in until 5 months or so. Def not teething
