E-rings from Costco (z100 related)
who heard the girl this morning with the e-ring from Costco that's 4 carats? She's embarrassed it's from there. OK, so I went on to look and they have some fancy, expensive rings and stones! You could get a better deal at someplace like Macy's! This changed my mind about Costco! And also, it's not like you'd go around and tell people where it's from. I don't think anyone has ever even asked me where mine is from....they have some very nice stones, good quality! This girl should relax. And FOUR carats! Puh-lease!

It's true. For Xmas, my brother bought his girlfriend diamond earrings from Macys. He went to Costco and saw bigger diamonds, better quality and a better price and returned the Macys ones for the ones at Costco. They were gorgeous.

i know my DH looked there for my e-ring. they do have some nice stuff and good deals too. i didn't listen to the radio this morning but why is she complaining?

Because if anyone asked her she would feel funny. First, I was like....4 carats? Well, if the diamond is gross 4 carats means squat. But no...they have 2 carat rings that are 18k! I don't know about you, but my ring was not 18k! It wasn't even 10k! This guy must have paid 30k or something! (mine is 1.5, great stone, sparkly...family friend jeweler)

I didn't hear it. However, I agree that Costco has beautiful things. I wouldn't care if my ring was from Costco. As long as it was nice, I'd be fine with it... and happy that DH got a bargain.

And I've never been asked, nor have I ever asked where someone got their jewelry. (Unless it was an obvious piece like a Cartier LOVE bracelet, etc..)

honestly i was watching something on like 60 minutes or dateline....one of those news shows.....and they were saying that Costco actually has some of the best quality stones compared to actually jewelry and department stores, and for better prices.
so i don't know why she'd be worried---no one asks where it comes from!

I saw a watch there from Jacob the Jeweler. Anything goes at Costco.
Truth is, mine was purchased in the diamond district. I couldn't tell you which vendor. I really don't care. Most people don't really care either. All I know is that it was worth insuring.

A diamond is a diamond....well, unless you're into those conflict-free diamonds. Different story.
That said, Costco has beautiful things...you just have to watch the certification on their stones. A lot of them are IGI (not GIA). IGI and EGL tend to be more lenient in their grading. An E or even an F colored stone under GIA certification may be a D under IGI or EGL.
I always stare at the Costco shineys!

yes, they did a segment on Good Morning America last year about it - they bought a ring at costco and had it appraised - it appraised for more then they paid for it, and they said the certificates with the diamond were very accurate.
Ive had people ask where my ring is from, as rude as it is

I agree that no one in general really asks WHERE the ring was bought. Why? I mean, she could say, I don't know, the ring was a surprise and all I know is that it's beautiful. End of story. I guess her fiance should have kept his mouth shut about where he got it.
Oh and I TOO always stare at the Costco bling!

i've seen some nice stuff at bjs too. we bought DH's cousin some pearl and diamond earrings there for her sweet 16. $90! Great deal.

It would never occur to me that someone would ask where my ring was from. I would answer, "the jewelry store" if I didn't want to say Costco.

I answered that way once when a worker at a Subway restaurant asked me where I got it. I was probed further and they wanted to know if he shopped on 47th street. Ballsy I tell you.

I know someone who got the engagment ring there for his wife. It was gorgeous and appraised very well.
I would not be embarrased that my husband got a good deal. More money to spend on the honeymoon

totally. and it looks like this costco thing is going to catch on. the campaign over there is called "Love Rocks"--the stuff is gorgeous.

It is rude but people have asked me where I got my ring....when I tell them DH bought it online they give me a funny look. He buys EVERYTHING online and knowing him he researched it to death too. I think it was like diamonds.com or something - I'm not ashamed that he saved money
