Dyeing your hair when pregnant?
i am in serious need of color, but i dont remember if we can get it dyed or not? are highlights okay? any advice is appreciated!

Yes, you can dye but only after 12 weeks. Highlights are always ok because you are not depositing color, you are removing it and it does not sit on the scalp. KEEP IN MIND that pregnancy causes changes in the skin and hair though and you may react differently to things. even things you are used to using. Your hair may take color differently or give youa hard time, mine did this time and it took 4.5 hours to lift and color. It still make out slightly off.

i normally dye, she said she wouldn't dye it,

My colorist refused to do anything other than highlights bc she was worried that it could possibly harm the babies (even vegetable die). I got highlights on the 1st day of my 2nd trimester!

At my first appt, my OB said it was ok to dye my hair (no waiting necessary).

I hilight my hair ! i think its more like the fumes, make sure its ventilated and tell your person your preggs

hey girls im a hairstylist! There are no known risks of coloring your hair! There has never been a proven risk....with that most doctors say to wait till after your 1st trimester and highlites are an off the scalp process,so nothing is going into your skin or blood stream. Fumes can be nauseating for some women but thats bout it!

my doc says highlights are fine and so is coloring as long as it doesn't go on the scalp (which kinda defeats the purpose of a touch up) also nothing with amonia...she did say veggie dyes like henna are fine to use!  I'm think of doing the henna since i go pretty much black anyone but i haven't tried it before so i'm not sure
