dumb powder formula question

ok so if dd takes 6 oz of formula, i pour 6 oz of water into the bottle and 3 scoops of powder, shake it up and now it looks like 7 oz.

Re: dumb powder formula question

Yes its one of life's annoying mysteries. It's b/c the formula takes up ounces too. I always had too much left over so I made it to recipe but make a few oz less so it measured bottles accurately. They drank more or less at each feeding so the 2 oz didn't matter to me.

I used to make a big batch then pour into bottles. Felt I didn't waste as much.

It's still considered a 6 oz bottle.... Always annoys me too but you are adding something a 6 oz of water so it has to increase it a little!

As the others said, it's 6oz. It is 6 oz of water, and the powder basically causes displacement so it looks like it's closer to 7oz. But you still consider it 6oz.

I once posted the same question. Everyone said it's still considered 6. But i find this so annoying and I still strangely obsess over this.

So if a 6 oz bottle looks like 7 oz and DD leaves an oz and a half, how much did she drink? I have yet to figure this out... and she's 6 months old. The good news is it doesnt really matter i guess.

Exactly! You are talking about an oz here and there. My girls never consistently drink full bottles at any given feeding anyway. If they are consistently finishing and looking for more, I increase, otherwise they got the 7 oz that was really just 6 ;). Mine never went down after bubbles.

I always made a pitcher and filled bottles so if I needed 30 oz I'd make 28. Id still have a bit more than I needed. I might be more concerned if my baby wasn't gaining as they should or for a newborn, but not a 3 plus mo old.
