DS's surgery went well yesterday...thanks for all the support!
And I am so happy it's over!!!! I was a nervous wreck. He was so good. Didn't cry at all before or after the surgery. DH was the one who went into the OR with him when they first put him out. They wouldnt let me in b/c I was pregnant. DH came out almost in tears and said it was probably for the best they didnt let me in. He said it was horrible. DS looked terrified and DH felt horrible not being able to pick him up and walk out with him and "save" him. The surgery took longer than I expected. From beginning to end it was a little under an hour.
When we got home around 2:00 I put him down for a nap and he woke up with 101 fever. I called the dr. and he said it is normal for them to have low grade fevers after but if it went above 102 I had to bring him to the hospital. Fortunately, the fever broke and he slept through the night and the fever did not come back. His temp is around 99-100 now and the dr called today to check on him and said that is still normal for the first couple of days of recovery. Technically his surgery wasn't even 24 hours ago at this point.
I was pretty strong up to the point when I saw him in recovery. He was still sleeping and had the IV"s in him and they had the oxygen tube by his mouth and I started crying. Noone should have to see their child like that. I cannot imagine going through what parents go through when their children are truely sick and have to be hospitalized. They look so sad and you as a parent you are so helpless. Even though I knew he was out of surgery, I just wanted him to open his eyes in recovery so that I knew he was really ok.
DS is eating and drinking well. He just wants to lay on the couch and read books and watch TV which is probably the best thing anyway for today. Tomorrow I will try to get him walking around and on his feet more.
Thank you for all the support, hugs and prayers! I said to the urologist as we were leaving "dont take this the wrong way, but I pray we dont have to see you again with the next boy"  He said he hopes so too.
