DSLR Camera Question
How sensitive are these cameras? I have the Canon Rebel and my co-worker just dropped it on the marble floor. My heart leapt into my throat like it was my first born child she was dropping. It seems okay and I have insurance, please tell me it'll be okay!

I'm trying really hard right now not to be mad at her. I may push her down the stairs later but that remains to be seen.
Of course it's as soon as I start the effing classes!
ETA: And thanks!

They're pretty sensitive.
My friend dropped her camera. It was fine the first day. The second day, she was calling B&H for another camera body & sending her broken camera out for repair. (she's a photographer & had shoots for the weekend).
I hope it's ok. If anything is wrong, it's likely fixable.

Awww man and here I was feeling good about it. I just took her for a spin outside and it seemed okay. I'll just check it again tomorrow. It just sucks because it's brand spanking new! Oh well, that's what insurance is for. Thanks for the advice though!

Re: DSLR Camera Question
YOu can take it to Berger Brothers and they can send it to Canon for you. I'd be worried about the mirrors getting out of whack

Think I should take it in even though it isn't acting up yet? My only issue is I just started a photography class- it's only my second class on Saturday. I have HW to do and I want to make sure I have my camera back in time to take it to class.

You can bring it there and at least have them take a look. They can test it and give you an opinion at the very least. Or even bring it to class, maybe your professor will be able to help?

OH! That's an excellent idea. You're a genius! She seems to know what she's doing.

Re: DSLR Camera Question
I dropped my BIL and SIL's Canon Rebel on the floor. The only thing that broke was the lens filter. I'm so glad they had one! They put it in my stroller and I didn't realize it was there. I felt terrible.

Re: DSLR Camera Question
If it makes you feel any better, I was hired to do my first shoot last year and had my camera in my bag with a bottle of water, (2 weeks before the event) and the ENTIRE BOTTLE opened up and drowned my camera. I was able to salvage the camera, but the lens needed to be fixed. So they are pretty resilient, but it's always good to take precautionary measures and just see if someone who looks at them all day everyday notices something you might not.

Re: DSLR Camera Question
Camera was given a clean bill of health by my teacher. She said just to watch it and make sure the controls don't go wonky. Thanks for the advice!

Re: DSLR Camera Question
My D200 got dropped last year in Disney. I had just used it and one of the kids started crying for something, so I put it on top of the stroller awning, with the strap hanging from the stroller bar. But it got knocked right onto the floor anyway (concrete)
It was fine! At first it wouldnt turn on, but I took the battery out and put it back and it worked. As soon as we got home I brought it to Nikon for a check-up and they said I was very lucky but it was good!
