DSLR Mommies - Camera Problem Question...
I bought a Canon Rebel T1i in September.
Recently, when I am shooting a lot of pics at once (yesterday I was at a 1st bday party and it also happened when shooting DS's cake smash), the camera like "freezes" up and won't let me take a pic.
Do you know what could cause this?
The battery was fully charged and I also recently upgraded to a SanDisk Extreme III High Performance memory card because I thought perhaps that was the problem. It wasn't
Best Buy said I could bring it in, but it would have to first be evaluated by their geek squad.
Have any of you had this happen to you? I thought the whole point of the DSLR was no delay...
Thanks!!!!

Re: DSLR Mommies - Camera Problem Question...
Do you think there is a problem with the camera or maybe your settings?
I have a Rebel and I know when I am too close to my subject sometimes I can't take a picture...

I think it's a focusing issue. SLRs don't know what to focus on when they are too close to a subject or a subject is too shiny. Have you tried the manual settings?

How close were you? Were you able to focus? Were in automatic focus/mode?
If my camera (a Nikon) cannot find a focus point while on auto settings, it will not let me take a pic.

Re: DSLR Mommies - Camera Problem Question...
It has happened in both Auto and Creative Auto functions (eta, the only 2 I really shoot in right now ). Sometimes if I adjust the focus (ie, zoom out) it will let me take the pic, but not always.
Maybe I will try posting on some kind of Canon forum... that is a good idea... off to google

That's why I think it's a focus issue. All those modes are in Auto so if the camera cannot find a point of focus, it cannot take a pic. It happens to me or if I try to shoot too close to my subject.

Re: DSLR Mommies - Camera Problem Question...
I think it's a focus issue too. The camera doesn't know how to focus. It has happened to me in the past, I actually have to aim at something else and press the shutter in order for it to "snap out of it" and learn to focus again.
I hate technology so I can't give you the technological reasons of why it happens, but it's happened to me...and mostly when I was TOO closely zoomed into something.
