DS won't fall back asleep, help.
So DS will be 10 weeks on Friday. He is a good sleeper. He goes down after I nurse him easily around 830. The problem is when he wakes up for his middle of the night feeding (around 3,4 am) he won't go back to sleep. He is a big eater, I nurse him every 2 hours and he even gets a bottle of 8oz 3 times a day as well, so he eats about 12 times a day, lol. So, I know he is getting enough food, so I nurse him and give a bottle, change and swaddle him back up to go back into crib and he cries. So I pick him up and nurse him again and he falls back asleep and when I place him back in the crib he wakes up and cries again and the cycle goes and goes and we are up for the day from 3am on....He won't take a pacifier, so I don't know what else to do, it's like he sees that it's light out or hears the birds and doesn't want to go back asleep, lol. Any advice?
ETA his naps are very random, sometimes 15 minutes sometimes 2 hours, usually in his swing..

DS won't fall back asleep, help.
My dd is 10w today. Try reversing your process. Change, reswaddle, nurse till he falls asleep. I know if I tried feeding them changing my dd would be wide awake too. You may want to try not changing him if he doesn't poop.

Definitely white noise and black out curtains or shades if you aren't already doing that. By that age, I skipped diaper changes since she was only wet at night and that helped her get back to sleep better. Keep it dark, don't talk to him or make eye contact even so he knows there's no good reason to stay up. What time does he go down for the night? I always find that if DD goes down too late she wakes very early. She also has gone through stages where she's up at 3 or 4am for an hour. How long has he been doing this? If it's just a few days it could just be a growth spurt.

Yes, I do change him first. Tried the white noise that didn't work. This has been going on for a while now so don't think it's a growth spurt. It could be its too light, will try the curtains. He goes down around 830 sometimes earlier sometimes later, I find he always wakes up at the same time.

DS won't fall back asleep, help.
You probably won't want to do this, but what about bringing him into the bed? DD will only sleep if we hold her - she wakes the second you put her down. I need sleep, so I hold her all night! We nurse in the bed and we both fall asleep while nursing.

I get nervous too, but I move the pillows and blankets and hold her on her side in my arms in the middle of the bed and I make sure her face is up. They also make snuggle nests that you can put them in in the bed and it is safer, but we have no room for it in our bed.

does he arch at all? or seem uncomfortable? maybe when you lay him down after he eats, reflux is making him uncomfortable. maybe try rolling a towel under the head of the mattress so he is on an incline.
eta: babiee with silent reflux often compensate for the painby oovereating

He doesn't seem uncomfortable it's more of a whiny cry, not his hungry or n pain cry. I do have a blanket roled up under the mattress as well. It's like he is saying I've been asleep a while, it's light out, time to play and snuggle, lol. Mommy wants to go back to sleep for an our or so....

I was thinking the same thing. I read the other thread posted and he is taking 4 8 oz bottles PLUS nursing a ton. He won't take a pacifier and seems to be using bottles/nursing to sooth instead of to satiate hunger. I would call the pediatrician. He could be using the milk to sooth his GI system from excess stomach acid rising up his esophagus. His milk intake seems really extreme for a 10 week old.

They are usually diagnosed via a collection of signs and symptoms. Your pediatrician can diagnose him or he can be seen by a pediatric Gastroenterologist. I would definitely look into it soon.

I just read your other thread as well and I would try switching the bottle to the last feeding instead of the 6pm feeding. At 8, I would change him, swaddle him and then feed him the bottle which should really fill him and and have him ready for bed. MY DS is 3 and half months, I have been doing this since 6 weeks and he slept through the night since then. Used to wake up between 530 and 6 and now he sleeps til 7-730 am.
