DS Got Bit In The Chest - Daycare Reporting Question
So I got a call from daycare today that DS got bit in the chest and it broke the skin. The biter is a teething infant and it was the first time this baby ever bit anyone. They also put a handwritten note saying he got bit and that they washed it. He seems traumatized, but otherwise okay.
Is the daycare supposed to make me sign anything or document the incident in any way?

Who do you pick up from? You may sign an incident report in the morning with the director/assistant director/main teacher

The after care person was there. She never said anything about the bite to me. She just said bye as I packed up DS and looked at his chest. I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow morning! Poor DS

They didn't call you? I would be pizzed if all I got was a note. You can ask for a copy of the incident report. You don't have to sign it only the people who witnessed the incident do. So sorry that happened to your little guy

No, they called me (see first line of original post) to tell me and also mentioned a note would be in DS's back pack. I assumed when I picked him up that there would be something for me to sign about the incident, but I wasn't sure what the protocol is for documenting bites at daycare. The only reason I'm not freaking out as much as I normally would is because of all the bite posts I've read on LIF! I'm still upset about what happened to DS though.

Re: DS Got Bit In The Chest - Daycare Reporting Question
I work for a daycare and the one i work for does write and document the incident as well as call and inform the parents or gaurdian. The "incident" report is supposed to be signed by the parent and filed in your childs folder. The same should have also been done for the other child.

This is what was done when my DS was biten on the face. I also got a copy of the report.

Re: DS Got Bit In The Chest - Daycare Reporting Question
Each and every time Abby has fallen or gotten hurt at day care, I ALWAYS got a call and an incident report that I am required to sign.
