Driving after 37 weeks....

Are you guys still driving? If so, when will/did you stop... IF you did/will?

I'm at 36 weeks, and I'm still driving. I don't feel weird behind the wheel, or anything... but I assume that as time gets closer, I will let others drive me (though I HATE depending on others). I would rather drive until the end, however, who knows how labor will start/come. I don't think there's a problem with driving when full term, especially how people say your in labor for 12-14 hours with your 1st child, however, what if I'm one of those mom's that the active labor sneaks up on me out of nowhere? Same here-I actually went for a nice drive the morning I was due-I drove to Starbucks to get a decaf latte, music blaring, figuring this would be one of my last "alone" times in a whileChat Icon

I drove up until the end and I was late. There is no way I could depend on people to drive me or be cooped up in my house.

Re: Driving after 37 weeks....

I stopped driving after 38 weeks - i was too nervous too - my family and friends knew this and everyone came to visit me or drive me around the last couple weeks - it was great.

I ended up being induced anyway 5 day after my due date.....

Re: Driving after 37 weeks....

I drove right up until the end. I had no problems with it. I was commuting back and forth to Brooklyn for my job up until 3 days before I had my c-section.

I know a girl that drove herself to the hospital while in labor - 45 minutes away!!! She had to pull over once during a contraction.

I drove while I was in labor. I drove myself for a pedicure and manicure and then to work at 1:00. I was having contractions but they werent bad and I was in denial about being in labor 8 dyas early- I had no clue I was in labor.

Re: Driving after 37 weeks....

I drove til the end but I have to say it was pretty uncomfortable so I only did it when I had to - DH drove most of the time, luckilly I took the LIRR to work.

Me too.
The only thing that is uncomfortable is the seat belt that keeps inching its way up to my neck instead of across my chest.

Ditto... in fact, I drove to and from work, about a 40 minute commute, the day I went into labor...

Re: Driving after 37 weeks....

39 weeks and still driving when I need too. It's not uncomfortable at all. I've cut back some, but there are still some errands I need to get done that keep coming up. I am trying to avoid long distances so that I'm not far from home if anything happens, but I don't think the driving itself would be a problem.

my last day of work is the day before i start week 38. i drive 45 minutes back and forth and it is beginning to become a little cumbersome. my biggest issue so far with the driving is safety due to lack of sleep Chat Icon .

post week 38, i plan to drive around locally until it's time to go to the hospital...

I drove from Farmingdale to Flushing while in labor, the contractions werent really strong at that time and I was meeting DH at my inlaws so I knew I didnt have to drive home. I was also a week early. That was the furtherest I drove. I kept it local the other days I was home.
