drinking and ttc

Hey girls, so for those of you who are new to ttc...how strict were u with drinking? A glass of wine or a beer here and there ok? I'm just anxious about doing everything right. We are new to this board and I figured that you all are the ones to ask! Any input/advice is greatly appreciated!

I still drink. I am not a big drinker to begin with. I have a couple of drinks here and there. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm not really a drinker, so I will still have my occasional drink.

Re: drinking and ttc

I'm not really a big drinker, but I did whoop it up on New Year's Eve. In general I have now more than 3 glass of wine when I drink and that's about 1 or 2 a month.

I still drink as I normally would (a glass of wine here and there!) The weekend before I got my BFP with DD, I had a girls weekend away where there were MANY drinks, and DD was absolutely fine!

Re: drinking and ttc

I was worried about that as well, and when I told my doctor I drank when I was in the beginning stages (I had no idea I was PG) I was really worried. I went to a few Xmas parties and drank quite a bit. She said anything with 4 drinks in a 24 hour period can harm the baby. I then got really worried b/c I had had more than 4 drinks on 2 occasions. She then said there is no circulatory system in the baby until you are 6 weeks PG (so 4 weeks after conception). She assured me that it would be ok and people have done worse things.

When I told my mom this, she just laughed. Back in her day, doctors told her not to drink so much that you were falling down during the whole pregnancy. Chat Icon.

If you have any concerns talk to your doctor. I wouldn't get crazy drunk, but a drink, I think, wouldn't harm anyone. As soon as you get your BFP, obviously don't drink. The weeks 6-12 are important for the development, from what I read.

Same here....I remember someone on here posting that it was important to them to keep living their lives and not change everything because this venture could take a long time....and for me it has been 8 months, so I would rather not stop having some fun!
