Oh come on... first, I don't see any drink in hand, second, every new mother makes mistakes. I know I do, and I'd probably be even more skittish if people and press were watching my every move!
I agree with you that every new mother makes mistakes...however the glass is clear in this picture: IMAGE
GIVE ME A BREAK! Do you have a 7 month old? I do, and I'll tell you, my daughter squirms so quickly out of nowhere sometimes, and it takes me by such complete suprise that I don't have time to drop what I'm holding... the point is, she DIDN'T drop the baby. That's what really matters, now isn't it?

It said "drink in hand" not liquor in hand. She still held onto that damn cup instead of her baby's head. HOLD HIS HEAD YOU IDIOT! He weighs a lot...he needs support in his ALREADY FRACTURED HEAD!!

I agree people are being too harsh and critical of her. That looks like glass, not plastic, so I know if I had it in my hand I wouldn't drop it to get better control of my child b/c it would shatter. Secondly, I think her son is old enough to have proper neck control. I think he looks so contorted b/c she was losing her balance and he was in an awkward position....

Um, how do you know there's alcohol in the drink? I'm so NOT a fan of Brittany Spears, however, as a pregnant girl, I can tell you that I would be horrified if I were her. You have enough sh-t going on when you're pregnant and I can't imagine what it must be like for her to have everyone scrutinize her every move. Seriously, HOW can you know for SURE that she is drinking an alcoholic beverage? ANd how can you say she shouldn't have a drink in her hand because she should be holding her baby with both hands? I'm sorry, I love you all, but as a prego, I can just imagine someone posting a picture of ME with a drink in my hand while pregnant and I just feel like, ok, would they all be bashing ME?
I definitely didn't assume it was alcohol...but I think the glass would be the first thing to go if I were heading out in public in unstable heels, with camera's flashing all around me while holding my baby AND pregnant.
She needs some guidance...it's unfortunate her lack of knowledge is so often displayed for all the world to see but come on. Get a grip, maybe sit down with a book and learn some things.

Ok, but again, I would not drop a glass and risk it shattering and me falling on it with the baby, but that's just me. I am sure I will make MANY mistakes as a mother, and I cannot imagine it being plastered publicly anywhere. I don't think anyone deserves the intense scrutiny that she is under. It's just not fair. She's human. That's how I feel. I just imagine it being me, and it reminds me of how unforgiving people can be. It's sad.

No, I don't have a 7 month old - nor do I see how that would make me understand any clearer that you can't juggle more than one thing when that one thing is a squirming baby Especially when you know your every move is constantly scrutinized by the public.
I'm not attacking anyone so please don't take it personally...you stated you didn't see a glass, I just pointed it out to you. I didn't bash her or criticize her - I think the girl needs help...some kind of guidance that for some reason or another, she's not getting from her mother or anyone else. It's a sad display, imo.

I don't think she was ever going to drop that baby. Unless she herself was falling, instinct would have taken over and she would have dropped the glass when necessary.
What kind of guidance does she need exactly (aside from child CAR safety obviously) relating to this particular situation? I don't see where she lacked knowledge in this situation. You can't wear heels while pg and carrying a baby? You shouldn't carry a glass of water while carrying a baby, being pg and walking in heels? I mean seriously...what did she do wrong here (besides the black bra under the white halter ) I'd like to know what book teaches you these things?
On a side note: I can't BELIEVE I'm defending Britney Spears!
ETA: Do you have any idea the amount of things that moms of squirmy infants have to juggle in their hands on a day to day basis? It's daily thing that with practice, most moms become pros at. It's a mommy skill.

You're right, definitely wouldn't drop the glass and risk it shattering on me or the baby. Why would you take a glass out in public anyway? That's what I meant when I said it would be the first to go - if I were getting ready to walk out of a building or a car and had my baby in my hands, I wouldn't pick up a glass.
I totally agree, it's not fair that she's constantly scrutinized...but wouldn't you learn from your mistakes? You know there are going to be a dozen cameras in your face every day...wouldn't you try a little harder? It just seems like she's given up and I think it's sad.

She is in heels/wedges and I know walking in them on the street....it can happen, u loose ur balance. Its happened to me. Just S*cks for Brit! Anything she does is always on camera.
I agree. She tripped on a pot hole, which happens to me all the time! I think they should leave her alone already. I'm sure the flashing cameras all over the place don't help.

The picture doesn't look real. My reasons:
The guy with the 'stache... his hand going around Britney looks a little discolored.
Britney's arm holding the drink.. looks like it was modified.
Britney herself looks VERY detailed and colored. While the rest of the picture, background, looks washed out.
The kid's hat... again looks VERY detailed and bright color. The hat also looks way too big to fit the kid's head.
Who knows... it may be a real pic... but i have my doubts.

Ok so I will also defend Britney (not something I ever thought I would do) but I agree, these paparazzi and crowds make it seem like she does nothing right. I feel bad for her.
And who knows, but to me in the picture it actually looks like she might have been passing out. In the second pic her eyes are closed and her knees look a little buckled. So maybe "the drink in hand" is one of her guards giving her water. The glass doesnt seem to be in other pictures.
I dont know, but being preggo again with a nine month old and tons of people down your back can get to you.

Re: Drink or Baby
Her driving with the baby on her lap was stupid, yes. Anyone with common sense knows that.
But now Things are getting so ridiculous. Pretty soon this girl will not be able to leave her house anymore. I am no fan of hers either but enough is enough and the paparazzi should back off.

Trust me when I say this - when you have a 7 month, you'll have a clearer understanding. I've known several moms (including myself) who have gotten clocked in the face by a baby's head - some even hard enough to blacken an eye. You don't get it until you have one.
Whether it was a glass or cup, she was still holding him. I think the bodyguard's actions make it look like she was going to drop him.
eta. and there is no way she's stupid enough to drink in public pregnant. Her publicist would have her under house arrest.

I've taken care of infant's - I have 8 nieces & nephews - so I can understand "what it's like". I've been scratched, bashed and have had to juggle...thankfully not under the watchful eye of the public
Again, I'm not bashing her...nor do I think she did something so terrible in this instance. But I do think she needs help/guidance...she's young, with an infant and another baby on the way. She looks sad, tired and like she just doesn't care. I'm sure the scrutiny is hard - even though it's part of the business - but a little help from a BTDT wouldn't hurt her either. JMO. I mean, how many women on here knew that there was a little neck pillow-thing that you can put in the car seat when they are that young to help stabilize the head? And even though it's not a law, most everyone knows a back-facing carseat is safer for an infant who can't hold their head up. Someone in her circle had to have known that too, no?
I guess my opinion won't be validated until I have a child of my own - which I think is silly - but so be it.

Re: Drink or Baby
I think that I would have had both hands on my kid knowing the papparazzi and what they are capable of, couldn't one of her body guards hold the glass for her. She knows all about the paparazzi and how they will push and shove to get a picture, so if it was me I would have had both hands on my kid. Also why would you have a real glass walking around in public like that. I found this on another chat board and it stated in the article that she was walking around NYC.

It is hard to keep your balance with a squirming baby in your hands. My 9 month old nephew is always squirming around when you hold him. He is so active and moving around all the time.

I agreee. I said that on the thread the other day. The paparazzi need to leave her alone and we (general population we) need to stop feeding into it or it will NEVER stop.
