I am up 5 or 6 lbs at 13 weeks. My dr did not mention anything. She said it was normal. Don't worry too much about it, everyone gains totally different.

I gained at least 8 lbs in the first trimester and then stayed the same for a number of weeks. I have gained less than 20 by 26 weeks so don't worry, it could all balance out.

I'm up 9lbs at 11 weeks and I go to the gym 5 days a week !!!

My dr isn't thrilled about it either but he said "I don't look at your weight, I look at what you are eating". So we talked about that and we came to the conclusion that I am just consuming waaaay too many carbs right now (and I was b/c of the nausea) so he made some suggestions for my diet (hence my protein breakfast post yesterday). So I will work on that, keep working out and we'll see what happens, can't do more than that so why stress it?

Sometimes it just isn't anything you are doing or can do anyway. It might be that you'll do most of your gaining early on then slow down later (that's what I'm PRAYING for ).

You have to realize that during pg you not only gain weight from fat - your blood volume increases, your water content increases, and don't get me started on the boobs.

ETA: my doctor only told me he wasn't thrilled about the weight gain when *I* brought it up, it wasn't a major concern for him.

thank you for all of your stories!! it was good to hear all of the variation in weight gain, and in times weight was gained...

I think one thing mentioned I may need to watch more, salt...I used to put salt on everythinggggggggggggggggg, and now while I did cut down,I didn't cut it OUT completely, so I will work on that...

i've gained 5 - 6 pds at 14 weeks. i think its fine, i gained a lot of weight because i was so naseous and the only food that i could eat was carbs! now i'm eating better and the weight gain has levelled off for now.

I gained 10lbs by 12 weeks my dr said it was perfectly fine. at 20 weeks i'm up (1 more 1lb) for a total weight gain of 11lbs. your body does what it needs.

I gained about 5-6 pounds at 12 weeks. At 20 weeks, I have now gained about 15 total.

My doc has never said anything about my weight gain. I wish I had gained less but I honestly dont think what you have gained is excessive. Everyone does gain differently and at diffeent times. Dont take it too much to heart.

I have gained 11 pounds so far at 28 weeks but I am not a tiny girl to begin with- I'm sure you are fine!! Many of my pregnant friends have gained alot more than that early on- every pregnancy is different

Umm next time don't ask him about weight gain.
You gain what your body needs to gain and that's it.

I also think 6lbs at 12 weeks is OK.

In total I gained about 25 lbs during my pregnancy. But at the end I was on a strict gestational diabetes diet and insulin so I didn't gain much, if anything in my 3rd trimester.

2 weeks after birth (I had a c section).. I lost 32 lbs... more than what I even gained from being pregnant. And to be honest, that was without even trying.

So really... try not to stress the weight aspect at all.

ive been feeling so junky, all ive done is lay around and eat eat eat. and of course, i only want/can stand to eat bad foods- especially carbs! so at 9 weeks, i went to the dr and was up 4 lbs already. she said "thats great! at least we know the baby isnt starving!" HA! not even close!! lol
i think im up even more now... but im hoping that my 2nd trimester ill be more mobile and the gaining will slow down....

I gained 12 lbs with my last pregnancy in my first trimester, so far I am up about 8/9 at 12 weeks this time. The weight gained slowed down a lot for the rest of the pregnancy-- I think this is just how I gain weight when prego. My boobs are also huge and are sooo heavy. I put on my DD yesterday.

I'm at my 12w appt now and am up 7lbs!! 2 more lbs from 4wks ago. I suspect, or hope that this will slow down now.

Sounds to me like you are doing everything right.

I am plus size and very concerned about my weight, my doc keeps reassuring me that everything is okay. I think I've gained 5 but doc says 2 (13 weeks now)

I might be overly sensitive because of the hormones but your doc sounds like an alarmist and I'd consider someone else- I want someone totally supportive and understanding-no one should make you feel fat.
