Dr. Kofinas Question
It's been a month since I went into pre-term labor due to a shortnening cervix. I've been doing a lot of research online about incompetent cervix and Dr. Kofinas' name keeps popping up - I think I'd like to see him during my next pregnancy. My question is, do I make an appointment to see him now or wait until I get pregnant again?

Re: Dr. Kofinas Question
Very sorry to see about your losses. I hope you and your DH are healing and finding some peace.
You can make a consult now. But know he only takes out of network benefits so check and see if you have that option. Otherwise you'd have to pay OOP. Also, FM Mama2b, she had a surgery to correct her issues with IC that Kofinas didn't seem to agree with. You might want to consult with who she used, also.

Thank you, we're hanging in there as best as we can.
I have been in contact with Mama2b, she's been a great help! I just want to weigh all of my options and get as many opinions as possible before I make a decision.

Re: Dr. Kofinas Question
I absolutely think you are right in weighing ALL of your options here. Dr.Kofinas is responsible for the health and safety of so many babies from this board alone. I had preterm labor issues at 22wks and I am currently almost 39wks and hanging strong. You should definitely have a consult with him and I'd make the appointment now so you have a plan in place for when you do become pregnant again. I was a patient of his long before I got pregnant and we discussed my history and worked out a protocol. I could not imagine a pregnancy any other way and I 100% owe my success to him. He's absolutely brilliant.
ETA: You should reach out to MrsMesssina as well who can truly attest to his role as a savior for her children who would not be here if not for him.

Re: Dr. Kofinas Question
I agree with what everyone else has said. I haven't experienced CS but I am a Kofinas patient (not in LI), and I have truly felt educated and supported from the entire staff so far since I started with them. Good luck

Dr. Kofinas Question
You know my opinion if you have IC get the TAC. Dr. Kofinas is not a supporter of the TAC but it will save your next babies.
Def seek out an MFM who will monitor you closely next time. My MFM will see me weekly starting at 16 weeks for cervical checks and to make sure everything is ok plus I will be on p17 shots weekly from 16 weeks. They are going to be super vigilant to make sure that my cervix doesnt change even though I have a TAC done by one of the best doctors in the country if not the world.
