Double stroller advice - confused here

I don't post often, but I am expecting #2 (DS) at the end of February.

My DD will be 2.5 yrs at that time. She happens to be quite tall and I'm often asked if she's 3 or more.

I tried out some double strollers today and she honestly looks ridiculously large in them.

Do any of you BTDT Moms have advice for me regarding strollers?

I tried the Baby Jogger side by side and it's just too wide for me. I think I'd prefer a tandem double stroller.

TIA for any suggestions/advice/recommendations you can offer.

I don't know if it is still on the market but the only one that fit my son at 2 was the McLaren twin Techno. He is tall too. Good luck. If there is a BuyBuyBaby near by I would have your DD test the strollers out there to see what she likes.

I'm also expecting #2 in June and my DD will be 2 1/2. We haven't bought anything yet but I'm looking at the Contours Options LX and the Graco Ready2 Grow. I don't know if anyone has feedback on them but the reviews are great and my biggest thing is I want to be able to put the infant seat in facing me. They seem to have various options for the seats. Maybe take a look at those?

DS was 3 when DD was born and we didnt bother w a double stroller. We opted for the joovy sit and stand. DS loves it and feels like such a big boy.

I have a bumbleride indie twin for my 3 & 2.5 year old which both are extremely tall for their age. They fit comfortably in there.

Would you consider a sit and stand? I hated my double stroller, it was so heavy and so difficult to manuver when DD (4, but only 28lbs) was in it.

I'd like to add that I've noticed that some strollers have a weight limit of 40 lbs per seat. My DD is already 37 lbs. She's not making this easy at all!

Test drive them.

I wanted side by side so that one kid didn't get stuck in back. The sale post here has some good tandem ones on sale.

No way would my DS at 2.5 now use a sit and stand for more than 3 minutes.

I loved the bumble ride twin... But not the $ and don't know at what age he will stop using the stroller.

Ended up getting the joovy x2. It's not perfect and fold awkwardly... But is cheaper than the bumble ride and wider than a mcclaren than DS couldn't fit into at 2 years old! The kids love riding in it! The basket under it can hold an amazing amount of stuff.

I liked the citi mini, but DD screamed her lungs out when I put her in it at about 3 months. I wanted something I could use immediately.

I had the contours options stroller when my youngest was an infant. i liked it. but it was kind of like pushing a bus. at about 1 year isold it.

had a sit& stand. that was a good option for a while.

i recently got the joovy scooter x2. actually my daughter picked it. we test drove a bunch and like you zaid she was rediculous in most of them. she kpt saying"too tiny!" she finally fit nice in the x2 so we bought it.

We have the combi twin sport - its a side by side but very easy to push. Mine are a year apart and my oldest was in it at 3 years old. My 2 year old is also very big and is above the 97th percentile for height.

honestly a front to back stroller is hard to push with an older child in it and usually one of the seats in weight limit of 40 and the other 50. And depending who is where it can be difficult to manuever.

I would look into the sit and stand as another option. We have the joovy one and love it!

I went crazy deciding on a stroller..My DD was 3 when I had my son. I bought a Baby Trend Ultra on the BRU website. Unfortunately it's only available online that I know of. I love it, especially when I found a website stating that it fits my Chicco infant seat. My DD sits in the front seat and then when my son is old enough he will be in the front and she will sit in the back. I don't' feel like I'm pushing a mack truck and it's definitely not heavy.

I want to thank all of you again for your input.

I realize that my limiting factor with the double strollers is my DD's weight. She's tall and her weight reflects this - already 37 lbs. From what I see, many of the double strollers have a weight limit per seat of 40 lbs. I have no choice, but to cross many strollers off of my list based on weight limits alone.
