Don't you hate that your kid always knows better?
He's 9 years old. He doesn't get that I too went to 4th grade - and I do know what the teacher is looking for.
The assignment was to read a book & write a few sentences IN SCRIPT summarizing what you've read.
That, of course, means your handwriting should be in cursive.
What it doesn't mean is you write in print a "script"
Piper: "Jason - you are the son of Zeus!"
Jason: "I know Piper. We have to go on this quest & I get to pick people to go with me. I need you to come."
I was waiting for him to add in stage directions....(dragon enters stage left)...
But I let him hand it in & of course, his teacher didn't mention why it's not in cursive so he thinks I was wrong.

I have to frequently remind my 7yo DS that "I've done this *slightly* longer than you have...". It applies to almost everything....

This is an old post but I had an update...the teacher changes the writing assignment monthly.
For the months following our parent teacher conversation where I told her my kid was writing TV scripts, the kids have had to write a creative conversation with the characters, which convinced him I have no idea what I'm talking about. I swear the teacher MEANT CURSIVE, NOT SCRIPT.
