Doggy Care - Pay ?

My 14 yo neighbor watches our 3 pups when we go in vacation or go away overnight.

NYE he went over and just let them out a few times. He didnt walk them or feed them (we did that before we left). I don't know what to pay him for that? Do you think $10 is too cheap?

I wonder what he expects b/c he keeps texting me for the $ and I haven't had the chance to bring it over (meanwhile his mom owes me 20). When he watched them for our 10 day vacation. I gave him $100.00 to feed them and walk them and let them out. He also got to hang in my house without his parents which should have been pay enough - LOL

I think $10 is fine. You paid him $10/day for your vacation, so I don't think you owe him more than that for what he did on NYE.

$10 does not sound like a lot (and $100 for 10 days is definitely not enough but that's just my opinion).

I'd give him $20 depending on what "a few times" meant.

I really don't want to give him $20.00 b/c he will expect that everytime and all he is doing is letting them out every 4 hours.

Maybe 100 wasn't enough but, we also brought him back NBA souviners from our vacation and he watched the games at our house (with his friends)b/c his house doesn't have the channel.

I totally agree. This definitely sounds like too little. If you want him to keep doing it, I would definitely give him more. I would think more like $10 for each time he came over and let them out.

Feeling cheap now Chat Icon

But.....we do live OOS so, the cost of pet care is cheaper here.

The dog walker we used to use only charged us $10.00 for a 15 min visit.

He was just went over there to let them out. Besides, he's only 14. The old dog walker has her own business and was in her 40's.

He's 14 years old, presumably lives next door, and just came over to let the dog out, right? He agreed to $100 for 10 days of care when you went away before. I think $10 is fine.

You don't need to feel cheap here. I'm assuming in total all he did was less than 1 hour of work, right?

ITA--don't feel bad. I think $10 is fine.

ETA: Our neighbors do this for us sometimes and all we give them is cookies and liquor. In the spirit of being neighborly. Yes he's young and it's a way to earn money, but I think $10 is perfectly enough.

Thanks~

He lives RIGHT next door. I would say that total, he did less then an hours worth of work on a daily basis. The rest of the time he spent at my house was watching my TV! -LOL
