she started using a tape measure right around 24 weeks...last week she told me I was measuring 32 cm which meant NOTHING to me, but she said it was right on target 
Were you about 32w? The cm measurement typically corresponds to what week you are give or take.

I Go to a group, some of them use the tape measure, some do it by hand.
