for high hats? $95 each highhat (including the actual light) plus $25 each if we want low voltage?

for some other minor work, $85 an hour?

Re: does this sound like a good quote?--electrician

My DH put ours in, while it took time, it was much more cost effective. $8 for the trim $12 for the cans (inside the ceiling).

So we bought all the supplies, including the electrical wire (which was around $50 (I think)for ALL the work we did).

I just asked DH what it would cost for an electrician to do it he said $95 is about right for it to be done professionally.

But if your DH is handy, he might want to consider doing it himself. My DH learned how to do it with our dad's teaching him. He put in 20 hi-hats in less than a week.

What do you mean by low voltage? Do you mean on a dimmer?

How many hi-hats are you putting in?

Did he tell you what size the hi-hats were?

oh janine, i wouldn't let DH near anything electrical with a 10 foot wooden pole! Chat Icon he would electricute himself, burn down our house and/or just make a mess of the ceiling!

i don't know what low voltage means--i assume maybe they save money over time? i didn't speak with the electrician, DH did, so i'll have to ask him. we're probably putting in 4-6--i don't know what's right for our room. no idea what size they are

ack...i feel so unprepared!Chat Icon

Buy the supplies your self and just use the electrician for labor. $85/hr sounds about right for labor, but they will jack up the price of the materials

our electrician charged us $75 for each high hat. we only got 6. but the price was lower for us since we also had our panel upgraded to 200amp at the same time.
