Does this menu make sense?

Or am I all over the place.

I am not much of a cook, but i try Chat Icon

MIL bday dinner. She loves Shrimp

Shrimp sauteed in butter and garlic
Homemade chicken fried rice (I have a really good recipe that I make all the time
egg rolls (frozen that I cook in the oven)
and maybe a package of miso soup.

Is this a stupid idea to try to act like a Chinese Rest. Should we just order take out, lol.

Honest opinions

Re: Does this menu make sense?

the only thing I would change is how you are making the shrimp.

I would saute in oil instead of butter, slice the garlic thinly, add some chopped scallions and soy sauce...maybe even throw in some steamed veggies (green beans, bok choi, choi sum)

but everything else sounds great. I just think the butter thing would throw off the whole asian flavor, since as far as I know, butter is not a predominant ingredient in asian cooking.

I would LOVE your fried rice recipe though, if you don't mind sharing!!!

Exactly that. I'd probably add a little sesame oil in the shrimp stir fry - and maybe a couple of chopped water chestnuts for a little extra crunch. If you can do WonTon or Egg Drop Soup instead of Miso it might be more "Chinese" restaurant style. But I'm a HUGE fan of Miso so either way keeps the flavor going! I'd put out little bowls of Chow Mein Noodles and duck sauce for dipping too! Good Luck!

ITA!

I'd go with more of a stir-fry kind of shrimp... you can add baby corn, straw mushrooms, and snow peas in addition to what Ophelia & rojerono suggested...

Miso I think is more Japanese... but still kind of goes!
