Does flying have the same "sleepy" effect on babies that cars do?
Please say yes!!!! Lol
We're flying in a couple of weeks and on flight is during his normal nap time. Another is at the tail end of it. I'm so nervous he won't sleep and be a crankmeister.
Any tips for flying? My son wakes easily, so any advice on how to drown out noise for him if he's sleeping so "this is your captain speaking" doesn't wake him up?

We just flew last week to the west coast with my son who is 9 months, both flights were at night and he slept the whole way, however IMO the best made plans don't always work out, in other words the travel could throw them off. Have plenty of snacks, food, toys on hand and try not to stress, when flying w a baby I feel it's best to be go w the flow but it's so much easier said than done :) good luck! I bet your son will do great!

We flew with DS at 4 mon and he slept the entire 3 hrs. Not sure how he would be when he's older but my DS will sleep through anything

We did the same thing when we flew with DS in August. We knew his naptime was at a certain time so we scheduled ourselves to fly out around that time. Unfortunately that blew up in our faces. He did not sleep the entire time except for the last 5 minutes as we were landing. He's a kid that falls asleep almost everytime we take long car rides but for some reason flying didn't have the same effect. Just make sure you have lots of stuff for him to do just in case he doesn't sleep.We brought lots of snacks, toys and movies for the portable DVD player.

Works for us.
She never flew as an infant. First flight at 2. but yes she knocks out!
When we left NY for DFW she was so excited. Had her seat belt on and watched the take off through her window with awe..
"We are up, up up" excited - then like magic.. "up, up" drowsy and by the time we leveled off she was out! LOL Hubby and I were laughing at her.

I've litterally been on EIGHT flights within the past three months with DD 
(she is 13mos) you honestly just have to go with the flow...
-one flight she was on stimulation overload and cried for a bit till i finally got her to sleep...
-another flight she was just sitting and playing quietly and then i just sang some songs and she passed right out!
-and another flight we hit turbulance and it rocked her to sleep!
the only advise i have is if its your child's first flight be sure to give him either water or a snack during take off and landing if he is awake...a pacifier may do well too. DD didnt have any issues with the pressure but I didnt take any chances-dr had advised me to do that too and I never had any issues when the plane was desending/accending!

We just flew two weeks ago. First flight was right at nap time but he didn't sleep at all. Second flight was at bedtime. We were stuck on runway for and hour and then couldn't get out of our seats for another hour finally at 9:30 @ night I was allowed to get up and bounce DS to sleep was asleep in minutes and slept through the rest of flight even the extra landing and take off we had to do to refuel. DS is a light sleeper to but never woke during announcements and there was quite a few.

When it was my toddlers at nap or bed time yes otherwise no

Same here...we flew when DS was that age and when DD was that age....they didn't sit still and screamed the whole time  We also flew recently and DS was 5 and DD was 2. They didn't sleep..they just fought the whole time
