Does anyone shop at Aldi?
I noticed that there is an Aldi that recently opened by Best Buy in Bay Shore/Brentwood off of Sunrise. I know that it is a discount supermarket (i'm embarrassed to admit that I only know this because of watching early Duggar specials ) but I was wondering:
Is it worth it to shop there? Is it gross? Do they sell meat and prduce and frozen items, or just "shelf" stuff? Any experience with this particular location?
Thanks!!!

Re: Does anyone shop at Aldi?
I live in NC and I have shopped at Aldi a bunch of times. I love it! They have GREAT stuff, all brand names you've never heard of , but you really do save a lot of money.
The only thing about Aldi that can be a little annoying is that you can't plan out your meals for the week before you go there. So if you're on a budget, it's VERY easy to blow the budget because you just have to go and see what they have that week.
BTW, Aldi is owned by Trader Joe's, so you'll find a lot of great frozen meals there that taste almost the same

I had no idea!!!!
I am upstate and we have Aldi.
I find they are great for some things and ehhh for others (some produce).
I love their chocolate and candy! They also sometimes have GREAT deals on kids products. My friend got her DD the step 2 wagon for $39 there!

If you have no dietary restrictions I think it's great. When we were away earlier this summer I tried to pick up a few things but since they don't carry a variety of brands it was hard to find anything my DS could eat.

I went to one in Queens, it wasn't bad, most brands i never heard of, but it was good, good prices too...the one I went to they you have to buy the paper grocery bags, or just bring your own bags.

Re: Does anyone shop at Aldi?
We've been going to Aldi's for years - there's one by my ILs in PA and we go & stock up on stuff whenever we visit. They have some really nice stuff...we particularly like their baking products (mixes & icing) & their spices/condiments. Their Fit & Active line of cereal bars & drink mixes is a good alternative to the name brand stuff. I think that most of it is their own brand which is why you probably haven't heard of it.

It's the other way around, Aldi own's the Trader Joe's brand. Aldi is a German company with over 8000 stores worldwide. If you want more detail check out Wikipedia for the good and bad.

I read The Frugal Girl blog and she is always talking about Aldi's. I'd never heard of it, and didn't know where they were located.

Re: Does anyone shop at Aldi?
I shop at Aldi all the time at home in the UK, they have amazing continental meats (Prosciutto, salami) their Parmesean cheese is really cheap, they have various different household goods from time to time, and the best thing they do is their AMAZING YUMMY SUPER CHEAP Chocolate! Yummy! And they have good prices on butter....

Re: Does anyone shop at Aldi?
friend of mine shops there, said it is great but bring your own bags and either cash or debit card, no checks and no credit. Said to pay attention to their circulars for sale stuff.
