I live near a fire house and my DH is a volunteer firefighter. Every fire department has different policies around their sirens. Some houses don't even have a siren. My DHs firehouse, for example, doesn't have a "noon" siren, but the siren does go off for all alarms. His old firehouse had a "noon" siren and a siren for all alarms. Some do not use the siren after a certain time at night, and others do. More annoying than the alarm siren, I would think, are the truck sirens. And the worst for me is DHs pager that goes off for all alarms, no matter what time of day or night it is.

We walked away from a house we loved when we realized how loud the fire house siren down the block was. We went to drive by the house one day to show a friend and the siren went off and GOOD GOD it was loud. It was about 2 blocks away and seemed intolerable to us. We walked away, well actually we ran
