Does anyone live in FL?
DH and I are thinking about moving down to FL next year to the Orlando area...what are some good neighborhoods for us? We are in our late 20's and don't have any kids yet but are trying so we want a place to raise a family. Thanks!

Re: Does anyone live in FL?
depends where in orlando you wanna live in. i lived in davenport which was about 10-15 minutes away from disney. there are 2 parts of davenport though. one is pretty ghetto, the other where we lived is right near champions gate and reunion which are really nice neighborhoods. depending on how much you wanna spend, reunion & celebration are really great neighborhoods to live in and are gorgeous! metrowest is a pretty nice area too. let me know what part of orlando you wanna move to. i only know right near disney since i wanted to work at disney, that's only where we looked and stayed only in that area.

i live in the orlando area. try altamonte springs, winter park, windermere, avalon park, celebration, lake mary.
i would stay away from metrowest (unless you are in dr. philips), kissimmee, OBT area or anything close to the Mall at Millenia.

Re: Does anyone live in FL?
I just moved from that area last month to move back to NY and I would say Dr. Phillips, Windermere, Hunters Creek and around the Sea World and Universal areas are excellent areas might be alittle expensive but a great place to raise kids. I also heard the school are the greatest there. Also try outside of Orlando is Davenport & Poinciana (20 mins west from Orlando), Kissimmee, Winter Garden (which is right above Disney but 10 mins from Orlando) and Sanford too.
If you plan to move in Orlando stay away from these areas: Metrowest (might look nice on the outside but crime is very high here), Tangelo Park, and Pine Hills. The areas around Florida Mall are not desirable. These are the worst areas for crimes.

Re: Does anyone live in FL?
I am not sure where exactly but it needs to be within reasonable commuting distance to the airport (I believe thats where DH will be working) He is used to a commute so 30-45 minute drive is more than reasonable for him

if he works by the airport, the Lake Nona area is nice!

That is the typical commute for Central FL and maybe more with all the traffic and tourists you encounter. I lived in Polk County (where Davenport and Poinciana are) which is a 30 - 45 min drive into Orlando. It isn't that bad driving in. So I would look outside of Orange County too like in Osceola, Polk, and Seminole Counties they are all 30 mins away from Orlando.
But if he is looking near the airport then the Sea World and Hunters Creek area would be the best bet. They are both right near the airport. I also agree with Lake Nona. That area is thriving right now. Good luck!!!
