Does anyone know? (Random ? about dolphins)
I want to go swimming with dolphins, but someone said they won't swim with me because I have metal rods in my back. They said dolphins are scared of metal or something like that and they'll swim away from me. I can't find anything by Googling it. Anyone know?

I found this on the web for you.

The following is from the paragraph abof the kid with the dolphins.
" And I have a hip replacement. I worried that THAT might be an issue. But the dolphins seemed to understand that too, swimming slowly near me so I, too, could pet them at length."
Good luck

Best idea is to contact the place that you would be swimming with dolphins and ask them. The trainers will let you know what is safe and unsafe.
When I did it in the Bahamas, they stated that anyone with neck/vertebrae, or lower back issues should not do the swim, but could do the encounter instead.

Thank you so much! I guess it's something I'll just have to figure out when I get there and can talk to them.

Don't dolphins follow metal boats? I think that's another urban legend....

I don't know how true that is. My dad had a double hip replacement and has titanium hips. He swam w/ dolphins, and they were more intrigued by him!
Dolphins have sonar and bounce their signals off what's around them, so I would think they'd know what's in your body... I don't think it would scare them.
