does anyone here have a ranch, and recently expanded to 2 levels?

we have a small ranch and have been contemplating expanding to a second floor. can anyone here post pics and/or recommendations for companies? also, i would love to get an estimate of how much it cost as well. feel free to fm.

My brother just did this over the past 2 years. I do not have pics, sorry. What I can share is what they did and about what it cost. They added a great room on the main level, and a whole new 2nd floor with 3 big bedrooms with walk in closets and a huge bathroom. It cost them about $100,000 dollars and they hated their arcitech(sp?) and contractor. They were told 4 months and they were out of their house for a year With a 6yr old, 5yr old and newborn in the inlaws basement. Their taxes went from $7500 to about $12,000 SO FAR( they have not gotten the final CO so they will go up again. Town of Islip apparently has started raising your taxes in stages of construction.

We just did this. We have a small ranch in East Meadow and added a whole second floor (4 bedrooms, second floor laundry room, full bath, and balcony). We started last December and were completely finished by mid April.
In the end with everything it cost about $125,000.
We used Larson Home Improvement because of their price, but were not entirely happy with them. FM me if you want details.
We were extremely happy with our architect. People are always complimenting us on the design. (FM for info)
