What do I do now i got it 4 years ago as a gift at my bridal shower so no receipt

It doesn't. I'm not sure how long the warranty is, but I just got an email because mine ran out. They did say you can call them though...

Thanks ladies - I think I did - I have all the papers that came with it. The canister must have broke bc the dust/dirt is leaking all over For $500 I would've thought it would last longer than this!

My Dyson is pretty much crap now too. Sadly I bought it longer than 5 years ago. The suction sucks on it (funny since they say it never loses suction), and the wand doesn't extend right now, and a couple of the attachments cracked. Dissapointed!

I am disappointed too! I got mine in 2008 and it sat in storage for a year. I need to replace it already. We called and took it to a repair place but it just keeps breaking again. I am so mad I spent all that money on that POS And mine is the animal it should not get clogged with dog hair

Mine lasted less than a year. What a piece of cr@p. And it costs 3 times as much as the Hoover I got to replace it, which picks up everything and is still going strong two years later.
Back on topic... The paperwork it comes with says it has a 5 year guarantee. So if you've had it less than 5 years, see what they say about replacing it. Or better yet, try to get your money back and use it two buy two better vacuums for the same amount of money.

i'm not sure about guarantees or anything, but i'm sure a vacuum repair shop could fix it. we have had our "animal" for close to 7 years now i think... about a year ago maybe i took it to a place in mount sinai bc the suction became crap, it was about 60-80 i think to fix it and it works like brand new. worth it to me.

depending on who you registered with, you might be in luck.
Bed Bath and beyond takes anything back at anytime.....they are able to look up your registry history.
for some other posters: I have found that If I have limited suction, that something is clogged along the way....I just take mine apart one piece at a time and usually find the clog. Warranties are such crap and I find they usually only protect NOTHING.....at the end of the day....they define normal use and 'wear and tear' when you show up and say it broke.

I have to say I have heard nothing but issues with this vacuum.
Which is what steered me away from it.
It is SO ridiculously overpriced and it breaks all the time.
My Hoover has lasted for almost 10 years and still going strong.
And like 1/10th the price!

If you bought it from bed bath and beyond they take back any product, with or without a box, used or unused, laundered or unlaundered.
I have heard that these don't really last and with the price they charge they really should.

really???!!! silly question but do they give you a new one? I cant imagine how they do this. Mine was bought off of my BBB registry 6 years ago and it really is a huge disappointment.

this happened to me. silly question but did you clean the filter? I never did for a long time & once I did the suction was back at full force.

They give you a store credit or exchange.
If you have the receipt, they give you the money back or credit to the Credit card that you used for the purchase.
Bring it in, and get something else that works.

It gets clogged with my hair ALL the time! I have to sit there a cut it out of the roller part about every other use. The canister broke a while ago, the bottom flap doesn't stay shut when I remove it - but I guess it got worse bc now the dust is spilling out everywhere!
On Black Friday I got a dirt Devil Mini-Vac for $9 and I swear it picks up more than the Dyson! What a rip off!
