Doctors to see?

Me and DH have begun talking seriously about going for our first. But where to begin? I've seen people say to first see my gyno but I've read that me and dh should go see our regular physician to do "testing"? What did you ladies do? Where should I go??

My OB/Gyn brought it up when he found out I got married. We didn't do any testing. The doc just said to come off the BCP 3 months before starting so my cycle could regulate. He also told me to take prenatal vitamins. Other than that, I don't need to do anything until I get a BFP. The only time it comes up with my regular doc is if they are prescribing me something so I can make sure it's safe in case I am PG.

I would start with your OB/GYN. IMO, a regular physician is a waste of time. Fertility is not their expertise. In fact, fertility is not even the expertise of an OB/GYN so if you discover you can't conceive and you're having problems I would then see an RE (reproductive endocrinologist). They are experts and can help with any fertility problems if they arise. Good luck!

EDIT - If you have no history of any fertility probs just start TTC. If you find after a few months you're not getting anywhere an OB/GYN can order blood work and a semen analysis for your DH. Again, if you really find you have issues an RE is your best bet.

we just both got regular blood work from our main doctors to make sure we were healthy and I saw the ob/gyn recently and had my regular check-ups

I asked if there was anything else and my primary & ob/gyn both said that was plenty- if I couldnt conceive after a year, then they said I should come back

just have fun & enjoy yourselves. The minute you involve doctors, TTC begins a job and not fun. Trust me!
