Do you worry about lead in toys made in China? (child death ment)

I saw a tv show about 2 weeks ago, about lead in toys made in China. A very sad story was shown about a little boy who swallowed a charm from Reebok sneakers and died of lead poisoning....Chat Icon

This got me thinking. Since having DD, I have been looking at where the products are made and SO many of the brand names are made in China. Teething toys, etc, made in China. This worries me, how do I know if they contain lead?

Anyone else think of this? What can we do? Can we check somehow? Do you try to not use toys made in China? It's on my mind...Chat Icon

I saw another report from a reputable source, and even though there are more items with lead from China, the percentage of child items with lead from the US is higher....

Every major country that makes child toys had at least something that had lead in it, so you can't go by the country of origin for safety....

I do worry... my mom refuses to use anything that was made in China for my DD (she watches her while I am at work). Like a PP said, there are issues with toys from all over, but the press has def focused on the issue with toys made in China.

I am usually pretty easy going, but I tend to check out where DD's stuff was made as well. There have been so many negative reports about stuff made in China that my rd flags go up.
