Do you think our children can see or feel things that we cannot? LONG

Last night was a little scary. Megan didnt nap all day long and she was overtired when I put her down for the night. She fought sleep and I just let her whine it out and she finally fell asleep. Well like a half hour later, she starts SCREAMING! She hardly ever cries, especially like this. So I run into her and shes visibly a mess. Shes screaming so bad, and literally shaking. I pick her up and start rocking her right away but she doesnt stop. Finally I start saying her name over and over and she calms down a bit. But, now she starts to look all around the bedroom like she is seeing something. She would not take her eyes off this one spot in the room and she was whincing. It really scared me. I finally got her back to sleep and she stayed asleep for the rest of the night. But I am wondering..do you guys think she had a bad dream? Do they even dream at 5 months old? Do you think she was seeing something that I couldnt? I got so nervous that I called my dh (he was on his way home from work) just to see if he was ok..thank god he was..has anyone else ever experienced something like this??

During the day, she stares at one of the corners in our living room and smiles and laughs. Theres NOTHING there, not even a picture but she obviously sees something. It kinda spooks me out sometimes! Anyone else?

It's possible she could have seen something. One never knows what a baby can see or sense.

YES!

I totally believe children (and animals) can see and hear things we don't. I went to visit my sister over the holidays and while we were in her apt all of a sudden DD starts hyseterically crying at the same kept looking over my shoulder at a particular area in sisters apt. I couldn't get her to stop crying until we finally just left. As soon as we stepped out of the apt she was fine.
My dog used to bark sometimes while staring at open space as if someone was there antagonizing her.

My guess is that she thought she saw something, and/or had a nightmare. The human mind often makes unknown things into familiar shapes, and since everything is unknown to her, the shadows probably looked scary to her.

When my Grandmother died I had this dream one night about her and she was laughing as if to tell us she's fine now and no longer suffering. And I swear that I felt someone tickling my feet. It just felt so real...

yes, they do have nightmares and I'm a firm believer that kids can see things that normally adults can't see because their mind is unbiased.

Our cat notices bugs big and small that we don't catch sometimes.

Its funny but when Julia was an infant she use to look up at the ceiling in my bedroom all the time and laugh and smile, and I would look up and wonder what the hell she was looking at--lol

My grandfather passed away a month after she was born, so I use think it was him looking down at her making her laugh....Chat Icon

Dont worry, I'm sure she just had a bad dream.....Chat Icon

DS used to do the same thing. And I always say it's my grandmother and grandfather in heaven making them laugh.

When he smiles in his sleep I say the same thing...

I read an article once that said that we are all born with some sort of 6th sense but we loose it as we get older unless we're encouraged to continually hone it. I do believe that babies see and hear what we cannot or choose not to. DS does this too, stares intently at nothing. I believe it is my grandfather who passed when I was pregnant. Chat Icon

Furthermore, my niece was 5 months old when my grandfather passed and she was at the wakes the whole time. Whenever she'd get cranky or start crying we would bring her up to his casket and she would stop immediately! Freaky but comforting for all of us.

Jordana used to do this all the time! I just like to think that she can see my father who passed away way before she was born.

DS will be playing with me, looking right at me and then all of a sudden look right past me like someone is behind me! It freaks me out everytime and I have to turn around and make sure there is nobody there!
