Do you think OCD is an inherited Trait?
Just because something happened in our house and so I'm wondering.....
Im talking about traits that require you to do a certain routine or action. Or in some cases just tendencies to rather unusual details in everyday life?

Do you think OCD is an inherited Trait?
Since OCD is a form of anxiety, and anxiety/depression can be hereditary, I say most likely.

I think so! My brother is OCD about cleaning, and his son loves to clean already at 17 months! He scrubs the floor!!!

Yeah we caught AJ doing something very detailed but as if she just could NOT stop until it was complete and in perfect order. She had me help her to make it right. We both sat there absorbed in our 'task' when my hubby said "Wow, she's as bad as you" and I realized we were doing the same thing but she wasn't mimicking me. She was so engrossed in the action she created her own little pattern. It was me copying her. The odd part was, the thing was doing is not one of my normal 'ticks' if you will. So it was her own 'thing'.
Mostly my habits dont bother me. But yes, I've been known to feel sorta of prisoner to some of the tasks and if you're friends with me long enough IRL you may even see them. mostly I keep them in check. Just wondering.
Hopefully it was just a 'thing' for her and nothing too bad.

My younger sister was very much a perfectionist as a child, but never did things with patterns, etc. She just liked things done a certain way. Her son is definitely following in those footsteps. He has to put things in certain orders, place things just so, etc. He is 27 months. I don't think it necessarily means that later on there will be a more pronounced form of OCD.

Yes, as a PP mentioned, OCD is an anxiety disorder and can be inherited.

There was a shread of hope that it wasn't.
Well I think it will be only occasional and managable (i hope).
I remember getting funny looks in school because I had to have things a certain way. And of course the mean children who would mess things up just to see me go crazy or watch me cry because I'd have to start all over.
Im the only mom that actually HOPES her child is a mess and nonchalant about stuff.

According to the DSM-IV: "The rate of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder in first-degree biological relatives of individuals with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and in first-degree relatives of individuals with Tourette's Disorder is higher than in the general population."

But remember, that's not a guarantee that she will have it. Just that her chance is a little higher than the child of a non-OCD parent. I have it as well (used to be medicated, MUCH more manageable now) so I totally understand and feel your concern.
