Do you think it will be ok?

I'm due at the end of the month so she can come any dày now. First time mom. Dh's bf came over yesterday and asked if we would come to a first bday at their house, just close friends and family who we all know. It's dh's godson and bf is my daughter's godfather in the beginning of June. I said of course. Now I'm second guessing myself. She'll only be a couple if weeks old. I know if I say hands off people won't be all over her but still worried about bringing her out. Am I just bring paranoid?

You should be fine IMO. I am a very relaxed parent though. I am also guessing this party may be outside, so it's good IMO again for babies to get fresh air.

Also, by that point, I was going stir-crazy and itching to get out of the house.

If you can keep the baby out in fresh air I say go for it. But if you will be stuck inside due to weather I wouldn't go.

Nope. I wouldn't do it.
Ask your pediatrician.
Probability is that nothing will happen, but if your teeny baby gets a fever, the result is a hospitalization and a bunch of nasty tests.

I waited 8 Weeks til crowds.

When I had number 2, I kept both away from parties for 8 weeks... And was happy I did. Both kids got NO colds. Yes, I was stir crazy and we missed some important parties, but the time passes soon enough.

I think it will be fine, but don't commit yet. Just let them know you will see how you and baby are feeling. This way you have options and can decide later.

I opted not to attend a party when DD was 4 weeks old but it was indoors during winter (cold/flu season) and both me and DH were EXHAUSTED that day - bad night the night before with no sleep.

If the party is outside, it might be a nice opportunity for you to get out, see some people and have a bit of fun. But I'd leave the option open to stay home if needed.

Edited to add: you also don't know exactly when she will be born - if you have her next week vs. her being a week late, the baby could be +- 1 month - big difference. Same thing on size. If baby is early and very small, not eating well, not gaining, maybe you don't risk it. If you have a chunker like I did, maybe you won't be as worried.

I would go. Just don't pass the baby around a lot and you'll be fine. I just had my DS on the 19th and we took him to my aunts for Easter at just a week and a half old. He mostly just slept in his carseat the whole time. Go and have fun.

I would go. I had DS # 1 on May 11th and took him to a memorial day BBQ at my friends house. I just had DS # 2 on March 25th, and I took him to Easter at my aunt's house, 6 days later. We even went to the zoo today. But I am about as laid back as they come. If it was winter I probably would have stayed home longer.

At 4 weeks old I packed up my son and my dog, drove 8 hours to Long Island to go to my moms retirement party. There were over 100 people there.

I wasn't worried at all. I just kept him in his stroller and he slept almost the entire time. Everyone looked, but people were good about being hand off. I let a few people hold him like my aunt and cousin. It was fine and I was glad I went.

I would go...im more a relaxed parent as well..my first Ds was botn in early august and he was out and about for labor day and he didnt get sick at all. I just wouldnt let alot of people hold him, keep him in the stroller

I brought my 5 week old DD to my nieces baptism where there were about 20 friends and family and some kids. We kept DD under a lock and key the whole time. She slept in her carseat awhile and later when she woke up we kept in the ergo carrier so no one could get to close. To be honest they sleep alot at that point so you may be able to keep her in a carseat or stroller most of the time! I would try and go...it will be nice to get out but use your mommy judgement when the time comes.

2 weeks old....a week out of the hospital and DD and I were at my best friends baby shower for her DS that was a month old.
if there arent tons of ppl there GO!!! did me a world of good to get out and be with ppl, my mom was there with my since we are all very close and i have some amazing pictures of our kids together that i love to pieces! (this was January too btw...so cold/flu season in full swing and shes 5 now and healthy!)

I took DD to a picnic for DHs company when she was 3 weeks old. She was outside, so the fresh air was good. We kept her in the carrier and no one touched her. I say go for it.

I would go. I never had a tough time with people wanting to hold DD when I wasn't comfortable. I had a carseat canopy that I would drape so DD would be able to get fresh air but also be shaded. And just tell people she's sleeping or she's just too little right now.

If you keep ur DC in the carrier people are less likely to touch or ask to hold etc. I would totally go! I'm also a very relaxed parent though.
