do you take allergy pills?

If so, do you take something every day or only when you cannot tolerate the allergies? My doctor told me last summer that not taking the allergy pills as I was supposed to could have caused my sinus infection. Well, I have been feeling the allergies for over a week. I took something yesterday for the first time. Today I took nothing. I feel like crap and I think I have a sinus infection. My GYN said not to take anything with a decongestant. I hate the decongestants anyway, so maybe I should just give in and take my allergy pills as usual (which is daily in Spring and Summer).

My Doc ok'd benadryl for allergies anytime in my pg. After 1st trimester he told me I could take anything i wanted-Zyrtec, Sudafed, Claritin when i needed it, but he preferred me to only take it when I felt really bad.

For my 3rd trimester all is off, I can take my meds everyday if I wanted too.

Right now I take Benadryl for the sudden ones, and Claritin (no D) when I know i will be outside for a good portion of the day.

I have bad spring/fall allergies too.

mine did not allow anything until 16 weeks. Then he cautioned me to only take them if absolutely necessary.

I take Zyrtec (regular, not D) twice a week. I've taken it forever and got the blessing of both my allergist and obgyn to take it throughout my pregnancy (I'm about 18 weeks now). Since I only take it twice a week, they didn't have a problem, and (I think) Zyrtec by itself is considered a "B" drug.

My husband and I both have TERRIBLE allergies, which is not going to bode well for the munchkin. We joke that if there was a way for this kid to sneeze in the womb, it would be!

I'm on Zyrtec and Rhinocort (nasal spray). Both are safe accoding to OBGYN and my ENT.

i got the OK for daily benedryl as well, but it does make you drowsy.

I have to say (knocking on wood as I type) I have not had a problem this spring yet - even yesterday it lloked like it was raining pollen, yet no effect. I wonder if the pregnancy changed my body chemistry? (I definitely had them in the fall)

my OB said i cant take anything so i am sufferiing really bad. Hopefully the rain will help feel better girls

I have had allergies for years! I have been taking allergy meds for so long, but went off last summer. For them to work you need to take it everyday, not just when you feel it.

My OB ok's Claritin OTC, but I haven't done it yet.

My dr's ok'ed Zyrtec 5mg. I took it for the 1st time yesterday b/c I was dying. I am only going to take it on REALLY BAD DAYS.

My dr also recommended Benadryl, but that knocks me out

I've been taking Benadryl. I take a Claritin if I'm going to someone's house that has pets. But I didn't touch anything until the 2nd trimester.

I got an OK for Claritin. I was only taking it weekends as that is when I am outside more, but will start every day as I haven't been feeling that great.
