Do you need leather and entertainment system in minivan?

Hello ladies. I am going to be a 3 under 3 mom so I am looking into minivans. Is leather better for small children? Do you need a built in entertainment system? Are there any minivan accessories or add-ons that are a must have? Thank you.

With kids, leather is a must, IMO. Easier to clean.

I think an entertainment system with wireless headphones are a must! I also think weathertech mats are a must with little kids!
Also, automatic doors were a must for us!

I agree, we will be getting a minivan next month, most likely the town and country, and we will definitely be getting leather. As for the entertainment system, its not a necessity but I do think it's a nice thing to have and can make longer car drives a lot more pleasant for everyone.

HECK YES on leather!
Yes to entertainment if you have bickering kids like me! Less fighting on long car rides.

Yes on leather. I am anti entertainment in the car. I prefer them to pay attention to there surroundings then watch tv in the car. It also reduces the battle of fighting over what they want to watch in the car.

We got an Odyssey in Feb and I am happy we didn't get the entertainment system. As long as the doors are automatic it is great.

I have 3 DC and drive a Sienna. I agree with the automatic sliding doors--a must-have!--but I don't have or want the other things. I've had the minivan for 3.5yrs and have had no problem whatsoever with the cloth seats...then again my children don't eat or drink in the car and I find cloth more comfortable for me. And as for the entertainment, I actually don't want my DC watching movies in the car for any length trips. If that's a must for you, at the time I found that buying a portable player would have been more cost-effective than purchasing a pre-installed system.

This! The salesman was like you are one of the only people who say they don't want an entertainment system. This was after they tried giving me a stock car that was fully loaded for a great deal. The mats are are necessary though! We also love our backup camera and auto doors.

I think it totally depends on you and your family and how you travel. I personally despise leather. Gets way too hot in the summer and cold in the winter. We used a portable DVD player when we went to NC on a roadtrip, but for day to day use I don't find it necessary. We never travel very far that I need DD to be distracted by a video.

Re: Do you need leather and entertainment system in minivan?

I just got a new truck and the model I chose had leather seats. Cloths seats would have been fine too.

I did not get the entertainment system even though my truck will be the primary vehicle. When we take long trips (like 1-2 times a year), my son watches movies on the ipad. My daughter will still be rear-facing for another 1.5 yrs, so she wouldn't have benefited from an entertainment system at all. Technology changes too quickly, and by the time she's old enough to get any benefit from it, she'll probably be watching movies on an ipad or kindle fire too.

Re: Do you need leather and entertainment system in minivan?

We have the automatic sliding doors, the back-up camera, leather seats and entertainment system in our minivan, and I love them all - can't imagine not having any of them.

My kids do eat and drink in the car, especially on road trips, and the leather is just so much easier for cleaning up spills. Also, I find that they don't really get too hot in summer/too cold in winter.

The entertainment system with the wireless headphones is also huge. We've driving to Florida several times, and it's great to be able to put a DVD on for the kids, give them both their wireless headphones, and us be able to listen to the radio in the front.

We don't have an entertainment system. We use the iPad or leap pad when we go on long trips and plan on buying a portable system when Ds 2 gets bigger.

For us, cloth seats are just fine. I don't allow my kids to eat or drink anything in the car so that's not a problem for us. There was one time when we all had that noro virus that went around and the kids vomited uncontrollably in the car on the way home from daycare. At that time, i wish i had leather seats, lol! But, it mostly stayed on them and on the car seats which we were able to take out to clean and the actual seats in the van were not too bad to clean. The entertainment system is a must for us on longer car rides. It keeps the kids entertained and it was our life saver on the way down to NC last month. my kids are 2.5 and are still too young for the wireless head phones, however, we play the radio and just have the TV on without the sound. they watch it without a problem, so for now, we'll go with it. Automatic doors are a must! So convenient to just push a button when your hands and arms are filled with kids and bags. We have the Chrysler T&C and have been very happy with it.
