Do you make attending classmate birthday parties a priority?
We literally have 10 birthday parties in February alone. DS's preschool groups the kids by age and since both kids were born in March, the majority of their classmates were born in February-April.
I feel like I can't make any other plans because our weekends are jam packed with birthday parties.
In the past, I always made these birthday parties a priority but this is getting ridiculous. Some days, we have 2 different parties from the same class.

DS only has 9 kids in his nursery school class, so I do make it a priority to attend them. On the other hand, I can totally understand that it can get to be a bit much and you might have to pick and choose what you go to.

Our kids absolutely love going to these parties. They really like seeing their classmates outside of school. Plus they are usually at fun venues or have good entertainment.
As of now, we have no conflicts so we can technically attend all of them. I just can't make any other plans since we are booked. I have already RSVP'd yes so I would feel bad changing my RSVP when we don't have a real excuse.

I try to make them a priority but, they aren't quite as popular where we live - DS has been only invited to 2 at this point.
I love them during the winter - it gives us something different to do.

I think it would be something I'd try to attend but I'd really have to weigh it against other things that come up. If you have parties every weekend I think I'd have to miss at least a few. I couldn't spend my entire weekend at kids parties unless we truly had nothing else to do. DD just stated daycare so we haven't had this come up yet.

Re: Do you make attending classmate birthday parties a priority?
We've never had that many invitations like you describe, but we do try to attend classmate's parties. That said, if there is any type of conflict where it's sort of inconvenient to attend the party, I admit I'd be inclined to skip it if it's just some random classmate that DC never even plays with or talks about. I'd make more of an effort to go if it's a kid my DC is actually friends with, and if I know the parent.
It gets kind of ridiculous with all these preschool parties where you're supposed to invite the whole class.

well i look at it this way, going to these parties are a form of entertainment for your kids. Looks like your Feb social calendar is jam packed but i think the weekends will open up after April. It wouldnt bother me so much now b.c it is the winter and there is not a whole lot of things to do in the winter. If it were the spring/summer, i would def start picking and choosing which parties to attend. i say, start blocking off some weekends for your own family once a month beginning in April.

Last year, we only got invited to a handful of parties.
This year, both our kids go to preschool and every kid in the class seems to be having a party.

Re: Do you make attending classmate birthday parties a priority?
DD is a little young yet and hasn't gotten invited to many but I'm not a big fan of them. I work all week and I want my weekends to myself- just her, I and DH. I find kiddie parties to be absolute torture to go to. I'm very antisocial..but in my defense I work in a high stress job where I am with people all the time. I need the weekends to de-stress.

I do. I actually enjoy going to these because my son enjoys it & its a way for me to socialize with the other mommies. Besides that, it gives him something fun to do especially around this time of year.
