I love cooking. It relaxes me.
I also like the benefit of creating better foods for my family and the fact that cooking is cheaper than eating out.
And I love feeding people. It's this instinct I have.. people come over and I want to feed them home cooked food!

Re: Do you like cooking?
I actually enjoy now before than before. I do love giving people home cooked food when they come over and during the week I see how much $$$ it saves so it has been addicting.
I just wish I had more time to do it

Re: Do you like cooking?
I don't enjoy the actual act of cooking, I find it kind of tedious & time-consuming, but I feel a sense of accomplishment when I've made something good, healthy, knowing I saved some money, etc... so in that sense I do enjoy it but really only the end product.

Re: Do you like cooking?
It depends. I LOVE cooking for holidays. I love that I am putting healthy food on the table. I love that I am saving us money by cooking. I love when my DH devours something I've made.
But...I don't like it when I've worked hard on dinner and it comes out like crap. I don't like cleaning up. I don't like that from start to finish, it's almost an hour and a half a night. That's a lot of time!

Re: Do you like cooking?
I prefer baking but I don't mind cooking most of the time...but I don't even think to order out really ever. If I don't cook I have more of a tendency to just eat whatever cheese and bread might be around haha...but of course I can only do that if DH is not home. Thankfully DH likes cooking also so I don't have to cook every day...if I did I think I would like it less...

Re: Do you like cooking?
I like cooking...the house is quiet and I can get lost in it..it's almost like downtime for me in that I am only focusing on cooking, and not the other things I think about in a day...I also like that I know what's in what I'm cooking and it feels good to have the finished product...that being said, they are not all winners, but luckily, we can laugh those off...

Me too
I never cooked until I got married last year--my mom ruled the kichen in my house
Now I really enjoy trying new things. My DH loves food so it makes it a lot of fun, we also like trying out new recipes together

Re: Do you like cooking?
I chose other b/c while I don't love it - I do like it. But not b/c it's healthier/cheaper.
Just because I'm not very good at it and the whole time I'm cooking I think about all the dishes I'll have to clean. DH always says "you cook, I clean" but I feel bad b/c the cooking part/messing up the dishes part is EASY.
Sooo - I try to make a lot of casseroles.
I wish I could watch someone real cook. Not a TV chef. Someone like maybeamommy, ophelia, rojerono.
I know all these women work and I want to know what their secret is - everytime I cook - we eat at 8 o'clock at night. You guys make all healthy food too - when I work with fresh food - all the prep work KILLS me. It takes so long!!! What's your secret?!?!

Re: Do you like cooking?
I love cooking - on my own terms - when I have the time. Most days, I am running around and preparing dinner way too fast and it's not as enjoyable as it used to be. I think it has a lot to do with not being creative. I just started WW, and I am actually physched to go food shopping. Some of the recipes are awesome and different!

Re: Do you like cooking?
I do like to cook. I esp love when DH goes on & on about something while he's eating it.
However, I have a small kitchen, no dishwasher & limited counter space. So cooking turns into a big to do most of the times.
I have to stop in between each step to put things away, wash dishes, dry them, etc...
If I had a bigger area I would enjoy it alot more and would be willing to try recipes with several more steps.

I LOVE to bake and like cooking. If I have the ingredients in stock and the time/ energy I really like to make a nice dinner. The snow days brought this out
I love Sundays because I always make a nice breakfast

Re: Do you like cooking?
I love to cook! I hate that it can be more expensive than eating out - depending on what you make. I like to experiment with lots of recipes so I always need the most random items. I never complain about cooking but cleaning up is quite another story!

I love cooking and baking!
I love the smell of onions and garlic being sauteed... I love the sizzle of wine when you're deglazing a pan... I just love it
And I love putting a home-cooked meal on the dinner table and having that time to sit and chat with DH.

Re: Do you like cooking?
I like to cook...I like "trying" to make new dishes. Making healthy dishes as to eating out all the time....BUT during the week M-F - I HATE to cook. DH & I don't get home until @ least 7:30-8 and then to start dinner etc we are eating @ 8:30-9. I am sooo tired and then by the time I clean up its almost 10. I have started using my crockpot more which is great and I am loving! On the weekends we are usually running errands and visiting family so we usually eat out.

this is me exactly. I love to cook and bake but it is hard to really enjoy the process when your space is so difficult to work with. But that being said, I like trying new things, I LOVE reading cookbooks and food magazines and getting ideas. and I love getting DH to try something new and getting raves from him about it because he is kind of picky. I wish I was better at cooking and less afraid to try more complicated recipes. I know if I did that I would get better with practice.
