Do you have an eat in kitchen?
We currently do but it's small and now with 5 people at the table it's cramped!
Doing our kitchen over isn't happening anytime soon but I want to open up the wall to the kitchen and dining room. Put a half wall with a breakfast bar and 2 stools and then eat our meals together in the dining room.
Not sure if I will regret this though since the kids are so messy. But I feel like the dining room is a waste of space.
We have a dining room/living room open layout

We do but it's a tiny table and we use our dining room daily. But I did not buy formal dining room furniture for this reason.
In general my house is informal so it fits our vibe.

Re: Do you have an eat in kitchen?
We eat all our meals together in the dining room. It's the way I was brought up & I love it. We cover our table with glass to keep it from getting too banged up.
We had an eat in kitchen, but it was too cramped, so we removed the table & put in a play kitchen for the kids & an art table. Best thing we ever did!

Do you have an eat in kitchen?
We do and have a table of 6 and an island with two stools.
We also have a dining room that has seating for 10 comfortably and we have only used it I think once or twice in 3 years.

Re: Do you have an eat in kitchen?
I think that family eating time together is sooo important, so I'd do whatever is going to make that happen the easiest. If it's eating in the dining room, so be it! Why don't you try a few weeks of eating in your current dining room space and see how that works out before committing to the knocking down of walls?
If your dining room becomes the everyday table, will you still be able to arrange things on the occasions you do have a bigger dinner (ie family holiday with everyone coming over)?

We do but it's so small we didn't use it for eating. We got a small island in The kitchen instead and use what's technically our dining room to eat meals

Do you have an eat in kitchen?
No b/c I have an open layout living room/dining area/kitchen so the dining area is right on the edge of the kitchen.

We do not. The kitchen and dining are open with the dining room just a step down. Our dining room is not too formal since we do use it for all of our meals. We have hardwood in there so it makes cleaning up after DD fairly easy (although there were some days I would have to clean puree splatter off the front of my hutch). We just switched DD to a booster at the table and it's been okay.

Re: Do you have an eat in kitchen?
We do. Theres a space in my home for a formal dining room, but we would never use it, so it was made into a playroom for DS. So our Eat in kitchen is our dining area.

Do you have an eat in kitchen?
We just redid our kitchen and I made basically an island that will be our kitchen table. I'm not sure if that was a good idea but i wanted the option of not having to eat in the dining room.

I expanded it & put glass over it. We have a few chairs we don't use. We have it to seat 8. It's a little tight, but we do use it daily.

I did, but we redid the kitchen and added more cabinets- we eat at the dining room.

Yes but we never use it. We eat in our dining room daily. The table in our kitchen is a clutter catcher.

Re: Do you have an eat in kitchen?
Also wanted to add our home has a huge kitchen with no formal dining room, the previous owner dormered the house and re configured the first floor. I love having a big kitchen, while I love the look of a formal dining room for my lifestyle it wouldn't get much use the large kitchen benefits us on a daily basis.

Do you have an eat in kitchen?
yes and we have no dining room. When you walk in my house it's the living room and the kitchen, then you either go upstairs or downstairs. I hate my house. Our kitchen is small. It was great when it was just DH and I but now that we have 3 kids we are sitting 5 people at a 4 person table. We can't really get a bigger table in the kitchen. We are going to be leaving Long island in the next year so I just deal with it. If we were staying I would have to figure out something to make the space a little bigger.
