Yes, if the cell phones went out or you lost electric for a long period of time and could not recharge cell, you would have nothing in case of emergency.

if you have VOIP phone you would have nothing either.....

If your phones are all electric (like cordless phones) you'd be out of luck if you lose power. I keep meaning to buy 1 corded phone that doesn't use power for an emergency, but with FIOS, I don't think it would work in a blackout anyway

Are you referring to a landline phone? because to me, a HOME phone, it's an actually LAND line, meaning an old school phone that connects to a jack.. Unless you have one of those, you do not have a home phone IMO.. if your power goes on you VOIP, you're a$$ed out.. and you'll be using your cell phone.. ;)

Sorta... depends on your definition. Yes, we have a hard-wired phone system in the house, but it's FiOS, so if the power is out for more than 8 hours (claimed), the backup battery dies and we lose the phone.

agree...very rarely use it.
As for power failure...yes, if you are a landline you should have a corded phone in case of emergencies. (I remember walking to 7-11 in a snowstorm to call into work because my cell phone was dead and my cordless wouldnt work). Bought a cheapie phone from target for $5 and kept it in my closet (although I never did actually use it!)

Yes we have a landline (home phone) b/c it's the Triple Pay and it's cheaper to have it than not have it. We rarely use it though...most people don't even know the number lol

Sorry I did not specify corded phone. I always have one in my house for just that reason. It will work in a power failure.

We do have a land line but no one except DH job calls. If they didn't require a landline we wouldn't have one.

Yes we have always had a house phone, have all 3 services from cablevision.
We use the house phone alot and would never get rid of it

Yes. We have a land line phone. We receive a few calls but rarely use it for outgoing calls. I like having it in case of emergency though.
